They missunderstood the meaning of the phrase "mix things up".

On another note, did they really do that with Gears 3? I never played it because I'm not big on shooters and tend to play Uncharted as the counterbalance since I don't like oversized characters.

They totally did that. The characters looked horrid and not even like themselves, their faces were remodeled or something. It was downright atrocious!

For a hard core Gears fan such as myself, trust me, it was not funny.

lol No, I assume it wouldn't be. As a hardcore DMC fan, I can sympathise with changing things about a character.

I don't know, ME3s combat still doesn't look very fluid to me. It looks pretty clunky compared to Gears. Say what you will about the block head characters, but the combat in Gears is very refined.

Sam, whoever Claudie Black played, I didn't play Gears 3. Looked a helluva lot like Chloe from Uncharted.

Certainly agreed. If the characters didn't look like they ate their concepts I would play the game. The controls function very well indeed.

Anya's facial changes were for the best.

Oh please GoW is one of the worst games in history, when warlord said its about chainsawing people he is correct, the story sucks, the gameplay is ok, the Characters are so cheesy you could fill up a football stadium with instant cheese, AND it stunk of cheap sci fi film, no emotion and get about 2 hours enjoyment out of it.

The gameplay is ok for a cover based TPS, the rolling and cover is ok, the shooter aspect is ok, not great, but ok, everything else is pretty crappy in my personal opinion, I dont play games for their shooting elements, if it tells a good story Its a good game.

You really should just go watch movies and not play games anymore.

Yourself and the average developer should realise that this isn't the 80's anymore. Even if it's rare, the gaming medium has had some great stories as far back as I can recall (the middle 90's). There have been games that are up to the standard of any very good book or movie you could name.

you're aware the changes made from 2 --> 3 were to show the shift of the seasons, right? Also to display that the Gears are more ragged and no longer a civilization.

Baird no longer has frosted tips due to lack of gel, and his face is dirty because of the lack of clean water and his job as a mechnic/technician.

Cole shaved his head and put on a headband because it's summer on Sera.

Dom grew a beard because ever since he was forced to kill Maria he stopped giving a sh*t about... everything.

Marcus' face hasn't changed, but the higher polycount makes it more detailed, same with everyone.

What do you mean? The overheating system? You had to keep an eye on it or it'd burn out and leave you hanging, and I had to be effiecient to kill everything before overheating. I found the ammo system in ME2 to be less tactical, honestly. I would just go around scoring direct headshots because I play it with mouse and keyboard which makes headshots easy so why not... furthermore, the cover system of Mass Effect 2 wasn't even optional, but I found myself away from walls for a lot of ME1., You can call it bad design, or you can call the gameplay less biased towards cover gameplay, but I'm not really interested in the why so much as I am in the fact that ME1 felt like a more flowing game compared to ME2s static popamole. And that because cover wasn't as usual for the player or the enemies in ME1.

I found the infinite ammo in the first game encouraged a "fire and forget" mentality, which often drained any tension from combat. And taking cover in the second game was required for a very good reason: the enemies were made more lethal, as they should be. Instead of having infinite ammo and the ability to just stand in the open without being harmed, you now had to make every shot count and take cover from much deadlier enemies. Call it "popamole" if you wish. It made combat more tense, and more importantly, more fun.

I still say they changed.....I mean come on, do a side by side comparison and you will see what Im talking about.
