I went through the gauntlet, got the ashes went back to Redcliffe helped Erl, but that big nasty dragon on top of the gauntlet never attacked me, ... should I go back and kill it I didn't seem to find any place to get up to it.

Damn thanks! Dunno why I didn't think about that before, seems like I got ported out with that guy. I also stabbed him in the back of the skull...decided I would let him live and went on from there. Sounds like from him that he has a nice shop I can go use later...so I'll stick with the less murderous choice.
