With Mass Effect 3 coming I finf myself trying to make a dicision that is a lot harder than it should be: trying to decide wether to get ot for console (360) or PC. Up untill now I have played Mass Effect on my 360 because I didnt have a computor that can run it. Now however I do and when Mass Effect 1 went on sale on Steam I decided to give it a try, which was a mistake because now I cant make my mind up on which version I prefer. It seems to run a whole lot smoother on PC, but I also heard their are some issues with PC.

Is it true that if you buy one game on Steam they ALL have to be from Steam if I want to import? I cant say, have ME1 on Steam, ME2 from M$ and ME3 hard copy? Also this would be a whole lot easier if ME3 didnt have Co-op, im really interested in how that will work but for me I would only be able to use that on the 360 since I dont know anyone else with a computor that can run ME.

So an details on what differences the different versions have will be appreciated and will hopefully make my decision easier.

PC would proabbly have superior graphics (even though Mass effect is usually quite optimized) The possibility of texture mods and/or character mods (appeareance) If you have a Computer that can play it on Par with atleast XBOX graphics , might as well.

Personaly, i think id perfer console on controls though and all my saves are on xbox, soo...

Not really a whole lot of difference; despite some graphical differences and loading times.

For ME3 it mostly comes down to whether you want to deal with Origin or not.

Oh ****! Before I go I'll just say this. I played 1 and 2 on pc but I then switched to PS3 when it came out, but that was just because of a personal preference for console gaming, and I don't have a 360. I think you should chose the format you like better, do you like playing PC, or do you prefer playing on a sofa with an HD tv?

The saved games can be imported from any source so long as you keep on the PC. I have a retail copy of ME2 and a steam copy of ME1, and I import into ME2 just fine. There's a Bioware Saved Game folder or something along those lines. I have to check.

it doesnt matter what version you have, you can use all PC-saves without converting them or anything.
of course its going to be a lot better on pc performance-wise. the one thing you'd have to consider, which most of the recent fuzz is all about, is whether or not you'd care about origin being on your rig.

No. All saves are stored in Documents - BioWare - Mass Effect (2) - Save. Same for all versions. The format of the save files does not change.

Um, I hook my PC and my PS3 to my plasma tv.

Only decision that should matter is what system your saves are already on

Having mass effect 1 and 2 for both xbox and pc, pc looks A LOT better and i find the controls a lot easier on the pc then xbox. Especially if you have a high end macro keyboard. :D

if all of your saves for ME1 and ME2 are on xbox 360, do you really want to redo all of them ( if you have more then one save ) PC?

Consoles don't have Origin crap so that unfortunately makes them automatically superior

I'm an Xbox 360 gamer, never played on the PC and I never will.
Even though people have told me that PC is better for all of this:
1. Faster load times
2. Much more fps
3. Better graphics
4. Mods (My friend has shown me some fantastic mods)
5. Using a mouse for shooters is apparently much easier than analog sticks
6. If not you can just plug in a controller, and have all of the above (Console user friendly)

But still, I'd rather stick with my smexy 360.

I was introduced to Mass Effect via Xbox360.

At one time, I would have considered restarting and going into it on PC...

But Origin is something I just can't commit myself to, sorry. I'll finish this Opera how I started it.

But consoles don't have mods. *sadface*

It really all comes down to preference, OP. There are positives and negatives to any gaming set-up.

I'm stuck with my 360 due to crap computers. I'm okay with that though. *shrug*

Luckily mods have never really been important to me. I just want to play the damn game without having all these different things to worry about. So, console suits me just fine.

And by that I don't just mean Origin, Steam and what have you. I also mean PC specs and the like.

I think I'll avoid letting Origin have its way with my computer. Though, I have a lot of console saves that won't be needing a free shotgun.

Until EA gets over itself and puts the game on Steam, I won't be spending my money on it.

Shame, since I was a huge fan of the Mass Effect series, and I'm currently playing through ME2 again on Steam.
