That's nice, don't care. As I said, it had little to do with RE5 or with RE in general, and everything to do with the media's historical (and current) portrayal of race. For the people who became butthurt over the slaughter in RE5, the game was little more than an extension of this. It was kneejerk, certainly, but the underlying reasoning was valid. That being said, I have no interest in typing up an offtopic, five hundred pages long thesis with my thumbs.Yeah, I'm calling BS on that one.

I actually happen to agree with you. It seemed odd that people were saying "it's racist because they're black! White zombies are fine though!" Go and complain about something that is actually racist!
As I said, it would be nice to see more female models, but that doesn't make Mass Effect sexist.

It's not just that you hardly see any female aliens other than the blue space babes. You can also look at the human characters, where there are almost no women in authority other than Shepard's mum.

There is a distinct sense that males are the default and women only get included in specifically female roles. Not so much on the actual squad, but in the other NPCs.

You have a point there. That is troubling. So gender equality only exists in Shepard's squad. The rest of the universe is male dominated. Makes sense I guess. Science Fiction is supposed to reflect the world we currently live in by portraying the future in our image. If in the present day women are second class citizens, then that is going to be reflected in the fiction. I don't think that's sexist. I think that's simply reflecting the unfortunate reality we live in.
So maybe, just maybe, if women were actually equal to men in real life, then they would truly be equal to men in the Mass Effect Universe. So in order to fix the Mass Effect Universe, we must fix reality.

So this thread is about a feminist misandrist and her hate for misogynists. Funny.
Although I hate defending a known troll, there was absolutely nothing anti-male in the original post. All the OP did was point out that women are unfairly under-represented in the ME universe when it comes to aliens. It's unfortunate that one can't point out male privilege without being accused of being a misandrist or a white knight.
As for the discussion at hand, I don't really buy the "we only have enough money in the budget for one model per species" excuse. Firstly, do we need more than one model? Is it a universal law that all female members of a sentient humanoid species have to have a pair of lumps on their chest? Why not just use a standard salarian model, for example, and give it a female voice actress? Secondly, if the aliens have to be sexually dimorphic and Bioware only has enough resources for one model, why should male be the default for almost every race?

Because that's horribly boring and cheap. If there are gender I want to see a difference. Doesn't have to be boobs or ass but something that makes them physically distinct at least. And not just color. I mean ok if one species is like that, that males and females only difference is the color of their skin, then so be it. But not all of them pls.Frolk wrote...

Well, it's cheap, but that's a given. I'm saying that if Bioware isn't willing to create female models for aliens, they could at least consider this option.

Well the franchise is bigger than just the games. Or one game at least. So they probably didn't want to ruin continuity by introducing females of a race just to retcon it later when they play a role in the franchise and they don't want them to be considered a cheap shot.Frolk wrote...

That said, I'd love to see female aliens. They don't need a whole new rig -- just take male Turians, remove the spurs, shorten or lengthen the fringe and remove the barbels: voila -- female Turian.

Yeah, don't anyone DARE start that horsecrap argument about women having less testosterone balls muscle mass blah blah effing blah. That's got absolutely nothing to do with anything you sexist dimwits with your stupid Civil War era mentalities.
Seriously why the hell is Bioware so goddamn male chauvanist? Why do they put more effort into males than females? Seriously, they cut shmexylicious female dwarves out of DA2 entirely, and broke their word completely about female qunari. And we have yet to see a single female alien in the goddamn ME universe.
Asari don't count because they're a mono gender race. Neither do Quarians because they're always in those stupid space suits and we don't even know what either sex looks like.
Why do female turians, salarians, drell, yahg, vorcha, krogan, batarians, volus, elcor and hanar seem to be non existent? Through dialogue we know that these races DO have females. So why the hell do we never see any?
And the hand-wavey excuse "oh they don't usually leave their home planets" is absolute crock, these are ALEINS we're talking about, they're goddamn cultural attitudes and mentalities are supposed to be ALIEN, meaning absolutely nothing like ours, being the pathetic sexualist piece of crap ugly ass apes we are. And in a species that's become an thoroughly modern interstellar civilization, the idea of not ONE single female EVER going out and travelling the galaxy and talking to people of other species is absurd. A very very flimsy excuse. And you're stupid.
me: clicks on thread
MALE HATE BOMB explodes in my face
me: fixes hair and puts on sunglasses "looks like it was... boobytraped YEAAAAH"
ME does need more females in it, strange that they don't even bother with it and yeah DA was pretty bad too. I fear BW will say something like "its galactic war! women and children are hiding and being protected so thats why you you didn't see many during ME3".
Women may be phsyically inferior however once you put a gun in their delicate little hands they can kill just as easily as males can. Given the situation with women in the military today (maybe not a good idea due to Vikings favourite pastimes) and the fact that in ME3 Earth is under attack you would see alot more females of every species fighting together with males for survival.
We shall see what BW does and how the BIOslaves defend it.

Mass Effect aliens are alien in no sense of the word. They were humanized on purpose, so that players could connect with them. And the idea of Shepard seeing every single race and both genders in the galaxy is absurd. Shepard is a soldier, not an xenopologist.
Also, you're pathetic.
