 The Salarian females are rare because of a cultural thing to do with mating(can't remember specifics). The Yahg, Vorcha, and Hanar have strange physiologies, and there are very few of these Shepard has encountered(aside from Vorcha). The Krogans have entirely separate female clans, and we actually did get to see one. There is no excuse, though, for the turians.

The blonde thread was completly relevant and a legitimate concern, but it kinda derailed into the madness it is now... haven't seen that kinda derailment since the vampire fetish thing a few monthes back
