I just can't see past the "Bioware should include female aliens, and the included female aliens don't count as female!"

Has there been confirmation that there will be no female aliens in ME3?

Did quarians get taken out of the game when I wasn't looking?

They'll probably end up releasing a "Female Aliens Pack" for ME3 in the future.

Hmmm... reminds me of a story. I was playing DSA (german pen and paper RPG you play with your friends) and it took me about two years to realize that nearly all NPC´s of our master (the one who tells the story to the "heros") were male.

I only noticed it when the master changed and the new one started to include female NPC`s.

Two f***ing years! And I didn´t even notice that 95% of our FANTASY world was male.

I write this for all the guys reading this thread. I´m sure YOU would wonder what´s going on if you played a game that long and there were only women around.

I´m am a woman and I DIDN`T notice.

I´m just used to everything cool being male. Games, films, books...

And I quess this is why so many people love playing the female Shepard.

I don't really notice it that much either. Well until recently that is. I guess I have been getting tired of the same old "Buff men who save the day." Even if I watch a war film based on real events, I lament the absence of any female characters.

I feel the same way. I find it increasingly difficult to ever play as a white/straight/buff/usually American bloke because I'm tired of seeing that cliche over and over.

That's pretty much why I play female protagonists in in most games when I have a choice. It's simply cooler to have a female hero in a man's world. Well and the buttcheeks obviously.

Sorry this is a WTF moment for me "even if I watch a war film based on real events, I lamnt the absence of female character"....  ah, what? men are dead and you're annoyed that there aren't any women fighting in that war?

Women are genetically inferior to males when it comes to physical strength/survivability, If I remember correctly the flesh on a females  back is seven times thinner and their skin in general is up to ten times more sensitive than a males.  Women are not built for combat, women are not built to be hunters because the female eye has better peripheral range (species that are preyed upon generally have eyes positioned to increase peripheral range) however they don't have the same depth perception and ability to focus on a distant target like males can.

Female eyesight is especially poor during low light or night time conditions, women generally have most acidents during the night.  I could go on and on about how different males and females are, such as the diet required to build large muscle mass (I lift weights every second day) has a great deal of proteins in it, the female body is very effecient at storing fat for posible pregnancies in the future when resources might be limited, women tend to put more fat on than muscle.

Therefore its difficult for women to gain muscle mass, if your thinking about those "strong women" models they are the same as the male ones... they use drugs that increase muscle growth...  Naturally men will be stronger then women and more agressive, if this wasn't the case then the human species would've died out.

As I mentioned earlier in this thread, (Vikings favourite pastime) during conflict between two human groups, ____ and pillage is the description that comes to mind...  whats the missing word?    moving on from there,  the only time I accept a female being equal/stronger than a male is when its magic/biotic ability.

I assume you two already know everything I just said and the information about the many other genetic behavioural/phsyical differences between men and women?  men and women are different, nothing wrong with that however there is something wrong when people either act like there isn't a difference or don't believe there are differences.

End of rant.

(PS. I'm only talking about genetic behavioural/phsical dfferences and not brain/brain chemical differences)

Don´t let us start the whole men/women discussion again. There have been severel threads on this topic which were closed rather quickly due to a rather agressive war of the sexes.

My point was simply to mention that women often do not exist in even a fantasy or sience fiction world where everything should be possible. It is not about physical ability, it´s about existence.

That's why Bioware's Me is a nice change of pace. Although those factors should not be the detriment of the game if done well, but I agree that in the context of blowing up the bad guy with a moustache and everyone living happily ever after then those traits get old fast.

In terms of white and straight, beyond certain RPGs and those games which emphasise the character interaction most don't explore the sexuality in any substantial way and simply aims at the largest demographic, for instance FPS games don't emphasis story line and character backstory terribly well. It's an economics game really, problem is that when a lot of developers do it, it gets a bit boring unless there is some good story and characterisation to back it up.

In terms of games such as TW2 I like that the character is defined in such a context, based on the books. Voice acting aside when Geralt may have been a little wooden. However, I like that Femshep can kick arse as well as her male counterpart, same with the inclusion of certain aliens. Salvaging something form the OP's nonsensical rant I would like to see the females of the species present, paticularly if we get to see some of the homeworlds and have greater contact with their military, but only if it makes sense in the context of the situation and species. Not for an equal opportunities bonanza.

For instance Turians, I think have both sexes incorporated into the military. I would be good to see both paticularly if we are going to have prolonged contact with the Turian's military and planets.

In Toby Turners voice "hey, you exist to me, in fact your the most important person, yeah you".  Yeah I know what your saying, my main beef is with the second post to the reply there....  Men have died in those wars and its just being brushed away, the reason Humanity keeps getting into trouble IS because few people care/respect history.

The borderhouse blog actually did an awesome article recently about this and it speaks explicitly about what the art director at Bioware said about creating female turians. http://borderhouseblog.com/?p=7418

The ability to forget is surely humanity´s greatest advantage but also it´s biggest problem. Sometimes it´s a pity there is no collective memory but just imagine what would happen if there was one...

ahh... going offtopic again.
