boo disc swapping, we should not have to bear the burden of outdated technology.

disc swapping drove me crazy in ME2, nothing is better than flying through the omega relay, with my heart pumping and adrenaline rushing, then all the sudden "switch the disc plz"

oh god, never again.

Yeah...not even close. If you have nothing to contribute to the post, don't bother posting please. If the scheme in ME2 doesn't bother you, fine, but no need to attack me.

I'm pretty sure disc swapping is the closest thing to exercise that some of the people complaining about it get.

I wasn't talking about being lazy, it just seems silly that you need to swap disk 2-3 times (depending if you play after the credits) in a single playthrough for only 2 discs.  I have never seen that happen in a multi-disk game. Recently saw a twitter post saying the Xbox version will most likely have 2 discs again, so I was curious if it was different this time around.

Edit: Want to clarify, I understand the DRM with Xbox doesn't allow for a single disk to play even with the game installed.  And swapping disks is not that big of a problem for me.

I've actually read that Mass Effect 3 will be only 1 disk, not 2.

I don't remember where I read this though.

While I play on PC and have no idea how big the 360's disc space is, I question how much content there is in the game if they are not only using one instead of two. Don't know if they are using a bigger disc, or the 360's general disc size got bigger.  If anyone has info on this, please explain.

Xbox360 discs are dual-layer DVDs that can hold twice as much content as a regular DVD. That's about 9,4GB.

9.4 GB or 9 or 4 GB? Either way, that's less then the 15GB (actual space I forget, think it was 12.4) space ME2 had. So it still worries me a bit then, content wise.

If they would do a double-sided disc, then it would be just one disc,
but that would still require us to get up and flip the thing over.

How does that confirm no disk swapping? The only thing I saw was this

Will co-op have its own disk, and/or executable? If not, how much space will it take up?

It will be included on the main disk. As for how much space, I’m not
sure at this point. It’s mainly content so it is sizable but not so
much that it affects the SP experience.

BioWare pretty slavishly follows a 3-act structure. It will probably be at the act breaks, just like it was in ME2.

dual-layered =/= double-sided

A dual-layered DVD is a DVD with 2 layers on the same side. it's 2x 4,7GB = 9,4GB. Since both layers are on the same side, you don't have to get up and flip it over. The disk does not have to be flipped.

A dual-layered double-sided DVD would be 2x 9,4GB = 18,8GB. This disk does have to be flipped.

And if you read that post it clearly does not say ME3 will ship on one disk.  It only says that the co-op will not be a separate disk, but will ship on the main ME3 disk (implying more than one disk).  It says nothing about the number of disks for single player.

Hm, that would make more sense. I was wondering how they would of just went from two discs to one without cutting content (or having less). Good eye walker, and camish for showing that one tweet.

And found this:
Another Twitter Post

"...Fairly sure 360 is 2 discs."

So I finally found the initial reason I made this post.  He says "fairly sure"; I'm hoping to get confirmation one way or the other.

Maybe you can install the second disc and play on the first.

Wow those two discs must be so damn heavy, how unfortunate that in order to finish one of the best games ever made you'll have to lug that heavy disc and switch it out for hte other extremely heavy disc, and have to walk what I assume would be 5 steps total, boo hoo.

What you have to remember even though disc 2 is as big as the first disc , a lot of the information on it is copied data from the disc 1 with only a small percentage being different information.

I wish this could happen too, but I believe there is a DRM issue that doesn't allow that to work on XBOX.
