Except that Lost Odyssey was very specifically designed for disc-swaps. The designers made the disc swaps integrated into the pace of the game content itself. You only ever swapped discs at the end of each major act of the game.
Also, Lost Odyssey is a 100 hour epic, and I've only played through it once, so I have no bad memories of incessantly disc-swapping like I did with ME2.

I see a lot of people saying "its not a big deal to disc swap"
yeah maybe if you play ME2 once or twice ever. for those of us who play twenty or thirty times, its a giant pain in the ass.
Yes

Ive played ME2 a minimum of 20 times, however ive never had an official count, however i still think your whining too much over the disc changing, it had never bothered me once
Well, I certainly appreciate your input, but you're not going to convince me to stop asking for digitial distribution or objecting to disc-swaps in general.

For the love of Pete, THIS^. I would like it if we can install both discs and just have one actual disc in the console for authentication.

TC didn't grow up during the PS1/DC era, apparently. Ah, the fond memories of FF8's 4 discs....

ME 2 had 2 disks (didn't require much swapping, i had to before going to illium on mirandas loyalty mission and then again before the Sui mission)
ME 3....3 disks? It needs to be to be able to hold the epicness

I doubt one disk can hold all of ME3's single player content considering it's probably bigger than ME2.LOST SPARTANJLC wrote...

While I don't mind disc changing too much, if ME3 uses the new format it will be annoying, since my 360 doesn't play well with the new format.
Now that is an actually a legitimate gripe , not that the others aren't but this is a pretty big one.But I thought they had a deal where you could notify them of your older 360 not reading the new format and they would send you a free new 360 or something like that for exchanging out old hardware.

no I understood your pst the same logic applies to what you asked, if people could burn the game onto their hard drive and then only need one disc to play it then two people could have it burned to their own hard drives and one uses disc one while the other uses disc 2. however it is an xbox issue that prevents it requiring the cd specific to what was bruned to be in the system, and for all the people who say switching two discs is a pain in the ass, I played lost Odyssey which had 4 discs so accept it, its what have to live with for the best quality we expect
Dude, no you are not understanding. Only Disc1 ("play disc") would be the verification disc. Disc 2 would not be able to verify the game, so you would still need to purchase a whole other copy of the game in order to get another "play disc."
So you would still need that specific Disc 1 ("play disc") to be in the tray for verification, but after that the game can just run off of the hdd (harddrive).

You people whine about EVERYTHING.
While its true that people will complain about all things, it is not as if people don't genuinely care about the things they complain about. for some, this is a serious issue. For others, it is meaningless. I'm quite sure there is something important to everyone on this forum that is utterly meaningless to me, just as this is important to me and meaningless to others. This is the nature of having a product and a community reach thousands or millions of people, as it turns out, we're all very different.

It really is not an issue. I had zero problems swapping disks with ME2.

Disk swapping only happened at specific moments. It's not that bad, its a big after all. Curious did Skyrim of have disk swapping.
Skyrim is only 3,5GB big and fits on 1 disk.
Yet Skyrim has an gigantic open-world, an insane amount of NPCs, an insane amount of quests and 100+ hours of gameplay.
So yeah, go figure....

It just means BioWare aren't as good as Bethesda when it comes to data compression, but that's about it. As a matter of fact, having multiple disks can prove advantageous in the long run (read: less loading, smoother cutscenes, deeper content, etc), since no matter how much compression you do, it usually doesn't come without a cost of sorts. And frankly, I think it shows with Skyrim.Luc0s wrote...

Yep, Bioware and every other developer should learn from Bethesda when it comes to optimization.
