It's a bit out there but I'm hoping they're going to revive the dark spirit inside Korra so that she'll have the dark and light spirit within her. Thus forcing her to bring about a sort of inner balance if possible. After all right now she only has the light spirit. This shift in influence could also bring her more over to the Red Lotus way of thinking.

Has anyone else wondered what Korra would have been like if she'd actually been trained by the Red Lotus elemental masters?

Hmm... I thought that after Book 2's ending it was clear Vaatu would return in someone else's body same as Raava does with Korra.

Yeah I'm pretty sure Zaheer is going to try to sever Raava/Vaatu from Korra. If his motives go beyond that... we'll find out I guess. So far he doesn't seem like a mustache twirler, just a badass fighting for what he thinks is right. I'll be disappointed if they do a 180.

Would that restore balance though? After all there would still be a light spirit without a dark spirit to balance it out. Unless they have some means of trapping Raava, which seems like mustache twirling to me, it wouldn't bring about any new balance. It'd just mean you have a powerful spirit of light angry with you.

That's my point, they're already severed.

Raava and Vaatu will always coexist. That was established by the end of Book 2. Each Avatar after Korra will get darker until the next harmonic convergence where the cycle starts all over again. Balance was already achieved except for the fact that this spirit resides within a human.

Interesting notion about future avatars. However, Vaatu seems to be so degraded at this point that he can't really express a change at the moment so I wouldn't say balance was achieved. It also still leaves the serious question of how Raava would respond to such interference. Though I don't believe there is any guarantee that one spirit will grow faster or as fast as the other.

Yes, I agree they will always coexist but Raava is not the only spirit that resides within a human: Vaatu's spirit fused with Unalaq during Harmonic Convergence. Furthermore, when Korra defeats the Dark Avatar it turns to ashes in a manner reminiscent, if not downright identical, of Wan's death, and we all know that didn't put an end to the reincarnation cycle.

Che, Raava says that Vaatu lives with in her. The closer to harmonic convergence she wanes in power while he starts to emerge. Kind of like a lunar cycle. I'm assuming that Korra is now both the Avatar and the Dark Avatar and further along Vaatu is in his emergence the darker the Avatar.

If memory serves (and maybe it doesn't), Raava tells Wan this while they're training to explain to him that neither side can achieve absolute victory. If Vaatu defeats Raava, she will eventually re-emerge inside of him and viceversa. However, when Raava explains this she hasn't fused with Wan in Harmonic Convergence nor has Vaatu fused with Unalaq. While I can acknowledge Vaatu being "reborn" inside of Raava had he been defeated in his spirit form, I don't think that is the case after having become the Dark Avatar. I think the same rules that apply to the "Light" Avatar must apply here, namely, that Vaatu will be reborn in a human body.

Freakin' OP, that's what she'd have been.

From KorraSpirit:

I was once asked what it means to enter the void. I will tell you. An airbender may meditate for a hundred years trying to detach herself from the world, but she cannot do it. Humans cherish human life, and by that they are bound to this world. The only way to abandon the world is to abandon one’s humanity. New growth cannot exist without first the destruction of the old. The void is found in the sowing of death. From that death springs life on the wind.
-Guru Laghima

It's interesting to note that he uses the female pronoun and Guru Laghima was male. If the quote is from an upcoming episode, could it mean Korra will meet Guru Laghima? Or perhaps he's having a conversation with Jinora, who's only an airbender?

Well given the ability to master all four elements and the fusion with the extremely powerful spirit of light I would say that's what the avatar is suppose to be.

I don't think the writers are going to focus on the second season's storyline, which wasn't that great, to write the climax for the third, which leaps and bounds better.

I'd be very surprised if the whole Raava/Vaatu thing becomes an issue again. It would be bad form.

Yeah, but imagine how much stronger she's be if the red lotus had trained her. Zaheer, while not an actual airbender, seems to know pretty much all about air bender culture, while Ming-Hua could teach her about psychic waterbending, Ghazan could teach her lavabending and earthbending, and P'li could teach her firebending aswell as psychic firebending, aka combustion. Perhaps she even knows how to lightning bend.

Just watched the latest episode, and wow, awesome fighting scenes all around. Tenzin is a total badass, and that's all I'll say.

Maybe not the God of Air, but damn if he didn't give his all. I like how 2 of the 1v1 fights sort of merged at the end. It's a very Action-Heavy episode. Definitely a cliffhanger ending, no fair. :| It was nice to see Tenzin stand his ground. The Red Lotus will likely keep him around... I think. They'd be better off knocking him out than outright finishing him.

"Little Brother" o.O They're all shown on Nick's Website, I think. Believe it's called the Ultimatum.

For some reason, when I tried to watch on Nick's site, it asked for my cable service provider and a bunch of other BS.

Agreed. I think he's a stronger and better airbender than Zaheer.

I tried making an animated gif of a small part of Tenzin's fight. Wanted to add a caption along the lines of "Learn 2 airbend, noob". But even after cutting down some of the frames, downsizing the thing twice, interlacing it and trying to "combine" layers to cut down on their size, I still end up with a gif of 7Mb. I fail at making gifs :(.

It's a great looking gif though.
