Maybe Korra is meant to lose this fight. For some reason, the Earth kingdom has a way with screwing the Avatar over. Remember what happened to Kyoshi? Remember how she eventually turned to the dark side? And how her own Ninja Earth soldiers betrayed her?

Would it make you taller as well?

It may be a case where the rest of those opposing Kuvira succeed where Korra potentially fails. She seemed to still struggle before removing "it" out of her entirely.I got the sense that Korra has recognized her problems, but she hasn't actually resolved them, so she'll lose and we'll get more personal growth.

If Korra is meant to lose this fight it won't be because she is fighting the Earth Empire specifically. It will be because she fails to find her place in a world where nations can finally defeat the avatar using technology.
This is a turning point for the avatar and the world. The outcome of this battle and what the victor decides to do will change the course of history. The avatar as we know it might not survive.
Well, that went exactly as I expected.
What went exactly as expected? Is the new episode out already?!?! ![]()
Well, I just watched it on couchtuner, so I guess it must be.What went exactly as expected? Is the new episode out already?!?!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Because I can't watch it yet. ![]()
Good grief, Kuvira can kick some ass!
All in all, fair episode.
i find it hard to watch korra fight anymore. its like watching a train wreck happen right in front of you. you wish you could pause it, so you could look away, or do something about it, but you can't and look away and miss most of it, but can't help but hear the sickening crunching of metal, and cries of death.
Korra was OP so the devs nerfed her. tis the fate of all OP characters. Except in Japanese anime. They just become a highschool kid's power fantasy.

This was Kuvira vs Korra part 1
I fully expect part 2 to go like this after she chooses the battle ground and adjusts her tactics (Korra uses Chi blocking and terrain to her advantage)
If Korra chooses the battle ground of the rematch (somewhere with a lot of water) and then proceeds to Chi block Kuvira it ties back to Toph's lesson that Korra should learn from her enemies.
Nah, Kuvira is too OP. It'll take the giant Reaper laser Verrick is making to axe her.

Kuvira ain't **** without her bending. If Korra actually learned anything from Toph she'd go into the next fight with a plan (water bending to weaken the earth and Chi blocking to take Kuvira out of the fight).

Korra? Plan? That'd be something. ![]()

Toph told her to learn from her enemies. I'd love it for that lesson to sink in if anything.

Agreed but remember, only when we hit our lowest point are we open to the greatest change. Ergo, Korra needed to get her ass kicked by Kuvira, probably in a very humiliating fashion.
I think Korra's problem with Kuvira is kuvira reminds her of herself. She has unbalanced ideals. And what did S1 Korra have? Unbalanced ideals. She thought she could solve any problem by hitting it hard enough and since she was the Avatar she operated under the construct that what she did was right because shes the avatar, and since shes the avatar what she did was right. Circular.
Also being almost murdered is very traumatic.
