I'm hoping it'll be Bo-Lin he's treater her rather well and its obvious even to a blind man he likes her, be nice for the "comic" to actully be happy once in a way.

Hey, Sokka was happy.

Okay, so his girlfriend turned into the moon, but his other girlfriend didn't.

Lol saddly if some predictions hold true she's also how Amon and the Chi blockers came to be.

That'd be his OTHER other girlfriend. Well, it was kind of one-sided. I don't know why all the ladies fancy Sokka.

If Amon really knows that technique Aang learned from the lion turtle, there's got to be a complicated story behind it, I think. Perhaps Aang taught him.

you might be on to something. Now whats this about sokka? Arent the chi-blockers from that firebender girl from the first series?

also, i hereby decree from this day foreward, we refer to Bo-lin as "BRO-lin".

Okay, see, Sokka's love life is a little complicated.

If you wanna get technical, he was first romantically linked to Suki of the Kiyoshi Warriors. She's the one I called his "other girlfriend." Later on he meets Princess Yue at the Northern Water Tribe's ice fortress, and forgets aaaall about Suki. She is the girlfriend who turned into the moon, of course. After that he gets involved with Suki again.

Then there's Tai Lee, who seems perversely attracted to Sokka even though they're still enemies through most of the series. Yes, she's the one who does the chi blocking. (Although not a firebender, just Fire Nation.) She's the one I called the "Other Other" girlfriend.

Later on she joined the Kiyoshi Warriors and taught them chi blocking, so it's been around.

See I don't think he got with Tai Lee, someone posted earlier that Suki allowed Lee to join to teach anti bender tactics like chi blocking. After all look what happend to the villiage and over the course of the war. Though she didn't teach any of the movements, she allowed the teaching of them. And might have started them down that path. That is if she did at all. Never know Tai Lee might have just left.

@Confess-A-Bear

The post you wrote following my last one was an interesting read. I don't really have a response to it other than to state that. ;)

@Megaton_Hope

That may be true. Ozai was a powerful fire bender to begin with and had Sozin's Comet behind him. Plus the whole EPIC SERIES FINALE factor. XD Still, it's weird how speedy Amon's version of the technique is comparatively. He took it from that crime boss in the second episode without much effort, and I don't know if I'd qualify him as a weak willed bending n00b.

---

Sokka was baus. :P Toph had a thing for him too. That's three recurring female characters that wanted to date him and a fourth that was written out early on. XD There was a theory linked to way up thread by Capt. Obvious suggesting Lin is the daughter of Sokka and Toph, and that he had a falling out with Suki that may have somehow led to the Equalists splintering off the Kiyoshi warriors. It was interesting stuff.

@sea

its been a hundred years, its not too far of a stretch to say the techniques have been distilled over the years.

This was the theory payoff episode. Glad they didn't wait to tell us Hiroshi's allegiances lay with Amon. Loved Bolin in this episode, as usual. Liked the turtle doves in the beginning that were literally doves with turtle parts. XD

Looks like Asami wasn't running a scam after all. She was clueless the entire time. That's good too, because her coolness factor went up a few points with me in the drag racing scene. Plus it helps she can fight.

On the whole though, this episode felt meh. Lots of good little parts, but it jumped around too much trying keep up with all the characters.

Also... mechs! This is truly a steampunk show now. B)

Double post. I have to say while I watched the Ep long ago I just got back here to say... That was a rather good episode. I hope we'll get more than 13 eps, but not holding my breath. In any case those race cars, hahaha I won't be surprised if some biplanes show up in future eps. One thing is highly clear however. Mr Pony Tails is playing a game of his own, and not a good one. And the equalist well, its going to take more than a police force to bring them down. Alot more.

Yeah, if the cops still think this is a small issue, they better hope the Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom have a military. Though I'll wager they like many Earth Nations in times of peace allow there armed forces to rot or keep 40 year old castoffs on the line.

One thing I keep wondering is why Tenzin is not trying to get Korra to like contact the spirit world to try and figure out a way to block or undo Amon's powers? I know she has trouble with that side of the Avatar thing but it just seems silly since that is kinda the whole point of her being the Avatar. To learn the Avatar state and some kind of skill that can combate Amon like Aang did to learn the power Amon seems to now have.....

Shes the Avatar she has to learn that herself, plus look at what Tenzin is. His people arn't ones to start conflict or push others down a path. I'm sure he WANT's to say that, but at the same time wants her to reach that point herself.

Plus with the Avatar State only a Guru showed him how to reach it, and he had a massive reason to do so. Korra can't even control her emotions and has the only bare basics of airbending. For her to attempt it would only lead to failure. On the same hand it takes a calm spirit to enter the spirit world. She is not. Or least not yeat. Also I wonder if Aang ever even told anyone about the turtle.

Yes. He mentioned a giant lion turtle taught him how to remove bending when Toph asked him about it following Ozai's defeat. At least Toph, Sokka, Suki, and Ozai knew where he learned it from. I doubt they all kept it to themselves.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Toph's attempt to be "rescued" by Sokka.

That one I might ignore, since he's an "older man" and her social circle was never very broad. (Living at her parents' house, nobody even knew she was alive.) Probably after she saved the world from genocide and tyranny she met a few more boys. Maybe that guy who grew a moustache.

One thing that just occurred to me, have they established what goes on in Ba Sing Se these days? I'd expect Ba Sing Se and Omashu to stay kind of a big deal, even if Omashu's 'package delivery system'
 is horrendously obsolete now.

There was also that time when Sokka went off to train in swordplay. When he returned to get the meteor, Toph blushed after claiming he wasn't missed. Toph and Sokka also fought together in the final battle against the Fire Nation, and they apparently still stick together in "The Promise" graphic novels so far. A shared brush with death like that tends to pull people closer.

Maybe it is just a crush Toph grew out of eventually, but she seems to really Sokka at least as much as Ty Lee did. And unlike Ty Lee, she knew him as a person.

Well, Team Avatar would definitely stick together after the conclusion of the war. They're kind of a family unit, especially for Aang and Toph. Sokka and Katara still have people to "go home to," but they're really the exception there.

Haven't read any of the comics. I usually don't pick up companion comics to tv shows, movies or video games. Mostly, I guess, because they normally exist outside continuity (so I'm not really 'learning' anything), but also because they're usually just not very good. Part of the appeal of Avatar to me is in the animation, anyway, and you can't really put that on paper.

The Promise series is the closest thing to official content outside the show. The writer supposedly collaborated with Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko in coming up with the story. Ignoring those comics entirely though, my point is Toph definitely seemed to have a thing for Sokka. I wouldn't say the series strongly supported them getting together.

Yuki and Yue definitely stole Sokka's attention. He was completely oblivious to Toph and indifferent to Ty Lee's flirting. I just think Toph's crush was shown as slightly deeper than Ty Lee's physical attraction. That makes her worthy of inclusion IMO.

spoilers

im starting to think the futuresindustries guy is amon. amon losing his face could be a metaphor for the other guy losing his wife.

about the sokka x toph pairing..there might be something to that. According to the Wiki Toph wore that meteor bracelet sokka gave her after he finished forging his space sword. She never took it off, that thing was with her til the day she died.

edit: thats a terrible theory..that would make Lin and Tenzin cousins.:mellow:

Well, one thing it'd be hard to describe Ty Lee as is "deep."

Yeah, I think that it's pretty clear that Toph was interested. I'd just hesitate to attribute the Albus Severus Potters to Sokka on that basis, given all the time between and all the things that might have happened.

Yes which would be bad.

And on that note your idea above...impossible.

How? Hiroshi was in the arena, watching **** go down. Amon Was there as he did take the players bending away, so not a copy. And also Hiroshi is fat, and not much good in a fight. Plus I'm sure he was talking to Amon on the phone.

I like how Amon had blueprints for the mechs on his wall early on, second episode or so I think.

Also how is platinum in any way harder to bend than generic metal? I'm not one to question magic, but platinum is weaker and more ductile than iron or steel. In fact, platinum is noted for its exceptional malleability despite its density. Ain't no reason metalbenders shouldn't be able to bend platinum.:?

But this is the show in which people turn water into ice by making flamboyant gestures at it, so whatever.=]

Since Avatar is hardly scientific I can excuse that. It is strange though

See thats whats getting you.

Metal bending isn't real. Metal benders are just highly skilled Earth Benders. they are bending impurities (IE Earth) in the metal left over from its forging. Iron and Steel are pretty dirty, more so from the time period we are roughly looking at. On the other hand Platinum while weaker, as a substence is also more pure, and would have no impurities in it to aid a bender. A few other metals could be lumped in there, but its unlikely they have the technology to make use of them. An Example would be titanium.

Oooh, I didn't think about the cousins thing. It does cast doubt on that pairing, but other than potential squick factor I don't it rules it completely. Just mostly. :P

I didn't notice the mech specs in episode two. My powers of observation are lacking.
