I was not even a little surprised they ended it with Korra and Asami getting together. It was heavily hinted at throughout the show. Mako and Bolin hadn't been an option for Korra since the end of season 2, which only left Asami or someone new. There had never been anyone new though. Some people mentioned General Iroh or prince Wu... but both only existed on the fringes, they were never central to the plot.

This article describes it all very well: http://www.vanityfai...recap-gay-asami

No it wasn't. It was only 'hinted at' starting this season. Lecherous boys (for the most part) and women wanting representation kept demanding it on the internet and they caved. Don't try and change history to make it sound like "it was always planned".

That said, I have no problem with it even though I would have preferred it if Mako manned up and patched his romantic relationship with Korra.

Or it could just be because it makes sense. And it does.

Friends, close friends end up together all the time.

It can take years even but it still happens.

If it makes you feel fuzzy inside then do your thing. I don't feel like going back and forth about something as obvious as this. If it had any long term planning whatsoever it was towards the end of Book 3 - conception of Book 4 because of popular demand.

The creators went along with it because of the buzz it would create along with helping out a minority.

Not saying it was always planned.

I am saying that it makes sense and is normal.

That's why they went for it.

Jesus.

Or maybe, just maybe, they also liked the idea.

Could be. Not a far-fetched notion. I have no problem with the pairing but I definitely disagree with any claims that a romantic relationship was implied throughout the show.

It's clear it wasnt the intent from the start, but that's the case with most of the series. It is evident that by book 3 they were leaning towards it, but them leaning towards it later in the series does not mean it was a decision made out of pure fanservice.

A similar example is Stewie and Brian from family guy, when the show started they almost never even interacted but during an episode that featured both of them together the fans loved it and the creator, Seth Mcfarlane, realized how well they actually meshed. These days the two of them are probably the strongest duo in the shows history. I believe a similar thing occurred between Korra and Asami, they got positive feedback about the pairing which caused them to reconsider where the characters stood and they decided to take them down a new route because they liked the idea and it worked.

They were close friends.

And they had chemistry.

The writers picked up on that.

My ideal ending would've been Mako dying and instead of a wedding a funeral. Korra and Asami say their good byes and Korra travels the world like David Carradine in Kung Fu.

With Bolin being the only one in a relationship :P

This tbh. I've already made it known that I think she's a scrub so that would've been cool.

Sometimes, the best way to fix a romantic relationship is to simply let it die. As for Mako manning up, that's exactly what he did, by expressing his feelings despite their romance coming to an end. That he decided to stay good friends and promised to be at her side regardless is proof of that. Their dynamic as a couple was obviously deteriorating rapidly and it was made clear that this wasn't a mode that they fit in and not worth the effort, not to mention that it would have been extremely tiresome to have these two go up and down on that same roller coaster for the entire series. I for one am thoroughly satisfied that they didn't end up together, because it would have totally ruined their final breakup that reaffirmed their lasting friendship. Besides, if Korra simply wants it over, there really shouldn't be anything he could do or say to change that.

I just don't get why there has to be some sort of accusation of insidious intent attached to this whole thing. That this occurs at all tells me that this kind of thing should be shown more often, 'cause f*** e'rybody.

Mako didn't deserve Korra. To me whole makkora relationship had no chemistry at all.People say Korrasami is forced ,I say Makorra is forced. Mako didn't even cared about Korra and he suddenlly falls in love with her.Seriously ? I always wished Korra to choose Bolin in first season ,whatever happens Bolin is much nicer guy than Mako.My hate for love triangle is endless.

Meh, I've never found that the Avatar does romances that great, for either series. Sometimes I wonder why they even have them.

I think it was a very good thing that Bolin was not tossed into this mix with them. It would only have made the dynamic between them all worse, and Bolin's general goofiness and aloofness about it was far more entertaining than having him get all emotionally invested in it. I'm much more satisfied with having him facepalm at the shenanigans. Plus, it's nice to have one character that could quickly get over it and do something else, even if that something else ended up being a creepy quasi-villainous waterbender for a while.

Well, I never pegged the creators of Avatar as ones who would blatantly lie to their fanbase like that.

They definitely gave hints. Specially at the start of season 4.

-Korra only replying to Asami and no one else

-Mako realizing that something is up. (he asks them at the dinner with prince Wu)

-Korra blushing when asami compliment her hair

heck. there's a video on youtube when they show ep 2 of book 4 for the first time at the comic con convention. And audience cheers when some "korrasami" moments happen.

Could we please stop wasting our time debating on who's scissoring, fisting, using the strap on and licking who?! Sheesh. What really matters right now is that Zuko and Zaheer are confirmed to be the best antagonists of the franchise.

The whole discussion wouldn't happen if Asami was a dude, plain and simple. Straight relationships can happen suddenly or with slow build up and nobody says a thing.

But two girls who are friends can't possibly start a romantic relationship? Like, what world we live on? Seriously, i've gotten used to these excuses, they pretty much make me smh.

The makorra thing started so suddenly, yet it's so unbelievable for two girls to be good friends and maybe later fall in love.
