They definitely gave hints. Specially at the start of season 4.
-Korra only replying to Asami and no one else
-Mako realizing that something is up. (he asks them at the dinner with prince Wu)
-Korra blushing when asami compliment her hair

heck. there's a video on youtube when they show ep 2 of book 4 for the first time at the comic con convention. And audience cheers when some "korrasami" moments happen.

Pretty sure J. Reezy meant that it wasn't hinted at all before season 4

Which is correct.

That is obvious.

he said " throughout the show" so I responded with what I understood.

No it wasn't. It was only 'hinted at' starting this season. Lecherous boys (for the most part) and women wanting representation kept demanding it on the internet and they caved. Don't try and change history to make it sound like "it was always planned".

That said, I have no problem with it even though I would have preferred it if Mako manned up and patched his romantic relationship with Korra.

While it is doubtful that I will change your mind you at least deserve an answer.

I don't care about sex at all. For me it made sense that Korra and Asami became a couple because of the emotional components. They just mesh well.

Starting with season two, Asami is the CEO of a large company. She probably owns half of Republic City. Despite all her responsibilities and demands on her time she -always- makes time for Korra, never says anything about being busy and never mentions that every day away from work is costing her money. How many CEOs would do that for "just a friend"? And go as far as risking their life when they aren't even involved directly?

Look at their interactions. When Asami talks to Team Avatar, she always looks at Korra. Even when she's together with Mako (again).

Or how about the fact that the stunningly beautiful, highly intelligent, refined and immensely rich Asami was single the entire time she wasn't with Mako? She waited 2 years for Korra to come back. If they had just been friends, then Asami could have dated someone else without a problem. Asami even offered to go with Korra to the south pole and care for her, leaving everything else behind.

Asami was the only one Korra confided in when she finally answered the hundreds of letters she received. Mako and Bolin are very good friends of her, but Asami is more than that.

It may not have been planned right from the start but when you write characters, they often develop their own voice. What may have been intented as a deep friendship at first becomes more in context because the character's evolution leads them to that conclusion. If the writers go against that, then the character feels wrong somehow.

Mako did man up and he confessed his feelings to Korra. Did you notice her face then? It clearly wasn't the "Oh yes, we will always be together!" reaction that would have lead to them patching up their relationship as a couple. It is obvious they both have feelings for another but they know they wouldn't work out as a couple and have known that since the end of season 2.

Unless you believe that Korra should have fallen for him again because of his earnest feelings I see no reason to believe that Mako & Korra could have happened.

It's sad for Mako, yes. But is it that bad for them to have a deep friendship and unwavering loyalty for each other? Honestly, this was better for them because as a couple they just don't work.

There was a lot of build up for Korra and Asami and while most of it happened in the last season, there were strong hints for it throughout the show.

I admit it is difficult to determine if it was friendship or more in the early beginnings because we'd need to hear their thoughts to know for sure. But romantic feelings developing out of a deep friendship? That's beautiful. I would say the same if it was Bolin or Mako btw.

I think the relationship is a bit underdeveloped. We needed more scenes of the two being friendly after Korra got back, However, Makorra would have been even more underdeveloped. At least it's pretty clear before the finale that the Korrasami relationship is privileged over and above their relationship to the boys.

I want to distinguish between fun and predictive shipping, Fun shipping is thinking two (or more!) characters would be great together despite knowing it'll never happen. This is where I was with Korrasami before the finale. Predictive shipping is well, trying to predict what the creators will do,. And I feel like Korrasami is missing a scene or two here.

So I'll be writing lots of fic.

I hope there will be Korra comics.I think it will get more closure .Just like what did they do with Aang and Katara in Promise,Search,Rift. Asami and Korra's relationship will be more developed in comics. Not only that and Korra said there's so much to do. This is what I believe

Mako didn't deserve Korra. To me whole makkora relationship had no chemistry at all.People say Korrasami is forced ,I say Makorra is forced. Mako didn't even cared about Korra and he suddenlly falls in love with her.Seriously ? I always wished Korra to choose Bolin in first season ,whatever happens Bolin is much nicer guy than Mako.My hate for love triangle is endless.

I say both of them were forced tbh

You gotta feel for Mako and Bolin though, there was no resolution or conclusion for them in the finale, and Korra and Asami just kinda bounce and leave them behind.

Them leaving them behind isn't like THAT out of character. Er..given what their relationship is going into. But in terms of the overall story, it's kind of screwing over Bolin and Mako. Pretty much, Bryke didn't give a damn about the side characters and it really showed in that finale.

Mako took the biggest L with that speech about loyalty. So much fierce loyalty. Korra then bouncing and eloping with Asami. This guy is pledging loyalty to someone that doesn't' give a *bleep* about him. Who couldn't be bothered to contact him for years. Who didn't even spend any time with him after the dude risked his life for her over and over. And then gets cut off at the end. Dude is a sucker.

In terms of logical plot though, Asami just lost her father. Korra is her "best friend"...and they are moving into a romantic relationship. So I can buy them leaving without the group. Still funny Bryke chose to make the other characters not matter in the end.

Mako though, well he messed up. Asami was god tier. Korra was awful (erratic, abusive etc.). What a total *bleep* up. Why he cheated on her for Korra is crazy.

Mako only has Wu now. Get it Mako

Lie about what?

little explanation would be nice

Korra's love interest. For years before the finale they have gone on about how they've always planned and wanted to do Korra and Mako in interviews and yet they go with Asami. So either they planned it for a while and consistently lied about it to the fan's faces or they decided to add this last minute for some reason, neither of which is a good thing to do.

Add to that the fact that they reinforce the stereotype that two bisexual women can't just be friends but must also be romantically involved and how it makes the other characters of Team Avatar seem worthless to Korra, and this scene damages the show for me a lot which is a shame because before it happened I was really enjoying the finale.

Meh, I've never found that the Avatar does romances that great, for either series. Sometimes I wonder why they even have them.

Yeah I feel that way a bit. Varrick and Zhu Li is OTP though.

I don't see how Mako affirming his loyalty to a woman he's not romantically involved with is taking a L since that's a friend who he's been through a lot with. Friendship is fine for those two.

Man people sure see a lot of negatives in this ending. I always thought I was the cynic. Guess I'm not cynical enough.

Could we please stop wasting our time debating on who's scissoring, fisting, using the strap on and licking who?! Sheesh. What really matters right now is that Zuko and Zaheer are confirmed to be the best antagonists of the franchise.

True. Also Varrick and Zhu Li doing the thing for the rest of their lives since they're best couple.

Nah, I'm just having a laugh at some of the stuff in the ending, don't take what I say too seriously, except Mako choosing Korra over Asami, that was a huge mistake, one which had me facepalming when it happened. To this day I'm extremely surprised that Asami didn't bail on the group after Mako and Korra pulled that BS.

Ah well, at least the lovely Asami got the hero in the end

Really? She doesn't even consider asking them if they want to go explore the Spirit World as a vacation. Mako and Bolin were her first friends, first crush, first date, and did more throughout the series to warrant a vacation and yet without a moment's hesitation she blows them off to go with Asami.

Bolin has Opal now and I don't think going off on a holiday's in the cards right now. After all, he only recently won her back.

Mako is, in all likelihood, still working for Prince Wu, at least until he dissolves the monarchy and calls for elections.

If any member of Team Avatar needs a pick-me-up, it's Asami, who had Future Industries razed to the ground and, more importantly, had his father killed in the battle with the colossus.

So, if it really bothers you to think of Korra and Asami as a couple, then just think of Korra as a very good friend who's trying to get Asami's mind off the events that just transpired.

I was having a laugh about this in my posts above because I've seen nearly this exact thing happen before irl. It was a moment a deja vu, a hilarious moment of deja vu mind you. Through out the final scene I was laughing and thinking, "It's happening again!".

Though let's be real here, Asami got far closer to Korra over the past couple of seasons than Mako and Bolin, if Korra could only take one person with her on a  journey to a spiritual place it would be Asami. Bolin has Opal and Mako has Wu to babysit, so it doesn't matter much anyways.

Can you imagine what it will be like when Zhu Li gives birth to their baby.

Varrick: Zhu Li, stop pushing, and just do the thing!

Zhu Li: YES SIRRRRRRR!! *POP*

Doctor: Wow... that delivery was record timing...

Varrick: That's my Zhu Li... now, Doctor why don't you do your thing.

Doctor: Right... *cuts the cord and slaps the babies butt, but the baby is silent.*

Zhu Li: Child of mine, do the thing.

Baby: Wahhhh!

That doesn't excuse her not even considering to ask them. Mako almost died for crying out loud so if anyone deserves leave it is him, and this is coming from someone who isn't a Mako fan.

That is how I am going to picture it, actually. Though not for the reason you stated being my problem. Thanks for the suggestion. ^_^

Actually, if she could only take one person with her to the Spirit World I think it should be Tenzin. He was her mentor and a constant source of support and advice and the two developed a father-daughter relationship. Add to that the fact it was his dream to go to the Spirit World but sadly for him he couldn't do it his entire life. The only time he went was when they went through the portal to rescue Jinora and that wasn't the Spirit World at its best and he had no time to enjoy even that.

I knew that was going to happen ever since we first saw them in Season 2 premiere. The proposal scene was hilarious though.
