Indeed awesome. I liked that the airbenders all got a chance to shine. Tenzin had several badass moments; as did his children. It was tense for awhile. I wasn't confident Lin could defend everyone alone before the kids interfered. Guess chi blockers aren't used to fighting airbenders.
As I expected, Korra did better against the mechs this time. She doesn't lose to anyone twice.
And then after all that craziness Lin surprises me. Again. I didn't think she could possibly be cooler than she already was. There the show goes proving me wrong again. I'm comfortable saying I like her as much as Toph, now. Her comedic bit early on with Meelo was gold.
Then there was the ending. *Iroh*? I gotta imagine that is Zuko's grandson since he seems pretty young. Zuko's VA is apparently voicing him too. Nice touch. Looks like next week's season finale will be an all out war. It will be so weird seeing the Fire Nation on the heroic side.If all they have to bring to bear are airships and conventional ships, however, I think they will lose. The Equalists have cutting edge technology on their side.
Overall though, amazing episode. It had a bit of everything and all of it was done well.
Gotta say, my favorite was that final bit with the one-two punch: watching Lin's fate, then seeing Zuko's VA return right after just caused my head to explode.

I'm pretty twisted, the funniest part of the episode, to me, was when that dude told Tenzin "You are the leader of Republic City!", then the city gets blown to hell 2 seconds later. Awesome.

The Air benders kicked some tail, Meelo was awesome. I'm wondering if Amon has the ability to give someone their bending back. I can't imagine him doing that though.Lenimph wrote...

What I do wonder though is how does taking away a persons bending stop their kids from being a bender?

The true mark of a hero is the unhesitating acceptance of self sacrifice.
Tenzin and the rest of the airbenders must certainly officially kick ass at this point.

Welp looking forward to the finale then, hoping it will be spectacular. I get the impression Asami will sell out the gang out of jealousy or something, seems a bit generic but hey anything could go I guess.

Zuko only had daughter so Im guessing its his grandson and it wouldn't make sense if he was his son cause he would be around the same age of Lin and Tenzin but who knows.jollyorigins wrote...
Oh goddammit that episode broke my heart, especially Lin sacrificing herself like that. And I'll just go with the most logical choice that General Iroh is Zuko's son as a) Same teen voice andZuko liked Iroh.

I must be the only Lin fan here here that wasn't broken up about her losing her earthbending. Not that I was jumping in joy. Certainly not. But after what Lin did to allow the Tenzin and company to flee safely I was happy enough she survived. Losing bending isn't a death sentence. Besides, I have a feeling everyone will get their powers back at the end anyway. This series is darker than AtLA, but it's not *that* dark.
Something else I didn't mention in my last post: I found it interesting that Amon was willing to spare Lin's powers if she gave up Korra's location. Not that I think any viewers buy his propaganda but... it's still odd of him to openly defy his own rhetoric so openly. When Amon offered that crime lord a chance to leave if he won a duel, I took it as BS since he obviously didn't expect to lose.
It also looks like Hiroshi is starting to crack. I wonder who will consider betraying their side first? Hiroshi or Asami?

Plot twist: they each betray their own side at the same time!

At the end of the WSJ article:
"I’m talking to Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the creators of “Korra” on Monday to get insights into the past season, a preview of the finale, and a look ahead at coming episodes. If you have any questions for them, follow me on Twitter @cjfarley and shoot me a note. I’m going to pick the best questions and ask them in my interview. Spread the word!"
