That last episode helped cement my faith that Toph is really just deep underground, increasing her mastery of neutral jing and magma bending. Where else would a blind earthbender go to find enlightenment anyway?

And like a good earthbender, she's waiting for the right time to strike. Predictions for the season's finale: Toph "erupts" right in the middle of Ba Sing Se, kicks the earth queen's butt along with the Dai Li, turns the upper ring into a huge crater, takes down the walls, and then leaves again, while trampling on Zehir and his crew on the side and making Korra look completely irrelevant.

Considering the sort of endings this franchise is known for, I guess I got at least a little chance that some part of my predictions will turn out to be true. Maybe.

Maybe something Uncle Iroh said back when they had those conversations sparked something in her.  I'm really hoping it is for the best and I like that they developed the family in that path, as it is realistic in relation to how she was raised and well, her personality and attitude towards life at her age - I can just imagine it growing up as well.  I'm not really too concerned on who the fathers are either and I'm loving the dynamics for the two sisters and finally some characterization for Lin - as the writers did terrible for her in season two, IMO.

I think the season has been very good so far.  The last 2 episodes were no exception, and I'm very curious to learn more about Lin.  Also Opal seems like the sweetest person.

 

EDIT:  I'm also really loving the music again this season.  The theme with the simple, driving drum beat used in the fights and the trailer is pretty much perfect.

Lin popped Naga's ball. There was no need for that and I now want to see terrible things happen to that mean old lady. They did such a great job of her being a bitter ****** about everything that for me to have any sympathy at all for whatever happened they will need to surpass that.

Having watched the next episode (in Spanish, so I'm gleaning what I can from the smattering I got from high school). I can say that I find it a lot more understandable regarding how bitter Lin is about her sister.

I like that they're continuing with the trend of all the original cast's parenting being flawed in some way.

 

I also really liked how they handled Toph's family approach. She always struck me as too much of a free spirit to let herself be tied down to any one person, nothing slutty about it. Toph has that "Do what I want, when I want" sense about her.

I wouldn't have, but I only found out korra was back on two days ago and I was binge watching to catch up, didn't want to stop just when we were finding out interesting things about Toph and Lin!

Toph was never married  She had two daughters, by two different men.  And the daughters had no idea who either of the fathers was.  Which means they were conceived in one-night-stands or flings.

That is the very definition of a sl*t.  TOPH WAS A SL*T.   Toph fans are just in denial, or they are just pissed because they know that's the truth.

 

Seems to me that Toph was an awful mother as well.

Lack of information is not a guarantee.

I'm not a toph fan. My guess is the mystery is being left open to be answered further down the line in Book 3. If you want to think she is, go for it. Lack of information/evidence on their fathers doesn't necessarily mean toph went around randomly boinking guys. Awful mother, hard to tell. Again, we don't know much at this point.
