The only redeeming thing I can say about Pony-Tails Man is he seems interested in maintaining order. Given his manipulative behavior and might makes right approach to problem solving however, I doubt he has good intentions.

I suspect he is in cahoots with Ammon.

This is possible.  He DID put Korra in harm's way pretty flagrantly with that task force.  And while I trust Tenzin when he says he tried to stop Korra from confronting Amon, I have my doubts about Pony-Tails Man.

For some reason I'm getting the vibe that he is in fact Amon himself, think Palpatine/Sidious.

I wouldn't be surprised. The entire Avatar series has a lot of parallels to Star Wars.

Thankfully Avatar has better writers than George Lucas:pinched:

Loved today's episode, ending aside. There were several scenes where I cracked a smile or laughed. Korra, Jinora, and Ikki's conversation about romance was hilarious. Although the scene stealer today was definitely Bolin. I loved it when he referred to himself as gorgeous. And the impromptu burping competition between him and Korra was great. XD He is fast becoming my favorite character in this series; and as blasphemous as some might see it I am finding him funnier than Sokka was.

I did think the way Korra won at the eleventh hour, and how they all let bygones be bygones so easily in the closing scenes was a stretch, though. After an entire episode of these three acting fairly immature, it felt too tidy.

On the romance front, I wonder what Mako sees in Asami really. I like her okay, but she is just sort of there. Other than being pretty in a feminine way, she does not seem to do or say anything particularly interesting or insightful. He is a teenage boy though, so... eh... probably reading too much into it. :P

I was okay with Korra saving the day and completely trashing the opposing team in the final round, but I have to agree that the ending was, as you said, a stretch. At the very least, I'd have expected a little remaining tension between the three (plus Korra and Asami). Bolin, for example, went from completely depressed to perfectly fine in such a short span of time, even noting the faster pacing of the series.

I'm just waiting for the shipping wars to begin

I was deep in the Harry Potter fandom when the shipping wars were at their height, but didn't get into ATLA until after the series was finished.  Apparently I missed some epic shipping wars.  I shall make popcorn and cackle from the sidelines

Great episode, cheesy ending but ugh Korra. I felt bad for Bolin, Korra is one of those women i just can never trust, i would not even bother talking to both of them or even apologising.

No wonder i hate romance in RL.

Korra, Bolin, and Mako are teenagers, and they're in a very different situation from the first Team Avatar.  They're going to do stupid things and make mistakes, whether in their romantic entanglements or in the pro-bending ring or against Amon.  Hell, I wouldn't watch the show if they were perfect; conflict makes for plot.

This episode was a nice filler episode, good for shipping too I guess, and that's great after Young Justice's new episode, they were so mean to the shipping fans.:crying:

But anyway, really good character development this episode and Tenzin's children are golden.:wizard:

Loved the episode. I dont want to call it a filler, Fillers are dirty, dirty tricks cheap TV shows do to propagate their episode count. This episode had weight and meaning behind it. Dont call it a filler. >:T

Maybe that IS why Mako likes her. Because shes THERE. This is a kid who, if memory serves, watched his parents die and took up the responsibility of caring for his little brother.

I dont think the ponytail guy is Ammon, its too much of a cop-out, besides the two dont match. Ammon is a seething monster driven by pain, The ponytail guy is a manipulative not-so-nice-person. Not to mention, to Ammon, hes saving the nonbenders from the bending elitists while the Ponytail guy sees every last person in the room as a means to an end.

It's filler in regards to the overall story line, that does not mean it's bad. Filler can help in a show like this, you don't want it to be SUPER STORY SERIOUSNESS all the time or it will get boring.

We have different definitions of filler then. I'm inclined to agree with Hellbound there. Fillers are way to pad episode count or in the case of anime, to prevent it from catching up to its manga equivalent. This latest episode had character development; and as you noted, downtime. It would get tedious if every episode was about team Korra versus the Equalists.

@Hellbound

Korra is THERE too. :P Mako also told her about his father's death--and in greater detail no less. I get the feeling Mako mostly likes Asami due to her looks and supportive nature. I'm sure Asami will do something cool to make her a more interesting character eventually, but at this point there is just no chemistry there. It makes the whole relationship harder to believe for me; which is bad when Mako is supposedly confused about who he prefers. It is not as if I'm shipping Mako and Korra either. It just feels like a forced love triangle rather than a believable one.

Filler can be a few things such as what you said, to pad the episode count or to keep an anime from catching up to it's the manga(it's why I like manga better). Filler can also be downtime with some nice character development, like this episode was.;)

Still disagree. :P The word filler implies content labeled as such is of lesser importance. Something to fill up time until the next big milestone in a story. Except I do not always consider the main plot of primary importance. I definitely do not feel that is the case in a character driven tale like LoK.

I'm 18 and i do stupid ****, but i don't break hearts, lead people on etc when it comes to personal feelings.

Always hated romance, women confuse me even more. But then again, i need to remind myself that this is a childrens show.

I hate cheesy stuff, guess i am a serious person.

Well I do think the episode was important(for the character stuff), it still was filler to the overall story(that was my point to begin with...). And hey look this episode was to fill up the time until the next big milestone in the story so....:? Also to me LoK is a chraracter and a plot driven story.

Anyway the episode was good and we agree on that, so who cares if it was filler or not.;)

sometimes you gotta make mistakes before you know what you really want. Which is the case for Mako.

Then you're lucky.  A lot of people cause romantic problems unintentionally; Korra, Mako, and Bolin fall into that category, along with a lot of the population reguardless of age.

She is beautiful, kind, and very affectionate with him. And he doesn't know any better than to fall for that. Not that there's any reason that he shouldn't. Except that my personal prediction is that she's the classic play on the male lead. ie, she's a badguy running a honeypot.

Some, I think you'd notice, regardless.

If I've been breaking hearts, they've broken very quietly.
