i have read on several sites that the Special Edition if ME3 will have both a male and female shepard box cover. Is it true that the normal version won't have this? And how will they do this? Will it be a cover that is printed on both sides? Maybe these things are still not known right now, but it would be nice to know what the current status is

AFAIK, the female Shepard is only featured on the special edition.

80% of players play as MaleShep.
I never choose woman if i have a choice - playing as a female is just as fun as getting a vasectomy with a combat knife.
No sexism intented, but when it comes to RPG i need to "feel" my character. In my case it's not possible to "get into" a woman... That metaphore just went somewhere horrible.
Anyway, as people stated - only in Special Edition.

And where's the evidence that 80% of the players play a male Shephard? There's not only a large female player base, but also many male players who actually enjoy a female Shephard more than a male one. And seeing a Femshep on the box certainly scares nobody off, maybe even attracts more hormon-driven male teens (just like pretty much every MMO out there uses a half-naked elf for their adds).
Anyway, to the best of my knowledge a gamebox (as in, that classical square cardboard thing publishers used to throw discs in before everything went digital) has a front and a backside, and any package designer can make make both of these sides look like a front side. My totally creative and maybe too outer-space-for-this-world solution would be, put that darn Shep on one, the Femshep on the other side and all is good. Can't be that hard, can it?

Bioware's own tracking data, according to Bioware itself.casadechrisso wrote...

I was kinda stunned too, but unless you think they're making something up, this is simple statistical fact.

You got a link for that? If you are referring to that survy that was done for ME2, than that was done back in 2010.
