I feel Mass Effect 3 will do well but i think it would fail to match the hype. The story will suck, multiplayer will suck and it focuses too much on shooting.
I want the Darkness 2 to win. It expanded on fps mechanics. What game has quad shooting? Also the story in the first was amazing, i hope the second lives up with an even more emotional story.

Does it really matter? Almost every major game that is released every year gets at least one GOTY. There's so many of them.

Mass Effect 2 won a lot of GOTY awards and Mass Effect 3 seems to be an upgrade on almost all fronts.

Game of the Year? Not likely. It'll probably be in the running for RPG of the Year though. My GOTY for 2013 is Rainbow Six right now.AlexXIV wrote...
So anyone think DA3 will get the GOTY 2013? Since we are at it.

Judging from what they are doing with the characters, slim to nil.
What do you mean?
From game review sites it depends on how much ea wants to shell out for the awards, but I think the fans won't be as receptive.
I think that by sidelining the cast of ME2 (or by changing them, Jack comes to mind) that BW will be alienating a sizable chunk of their fanbase and end up shooting themselves in the foot.
Now I have yet to read the full leak so I am speaking based on the reactions of those on the forums. Miranda and Jack mainly so I could be wrong.
Plus after seeing the full "squad" all I could say was "Ugh, oh well"
Needless to say as a fan of the ME2 squad I feel a little left out.

The fact is, ME 3 is a sequel to ME 2, which won multiple GotY awards for 2010. What is rare is for a game to get GotY even when its sequel is better if it won a GotY award from the organization before. Which is why Arkham City faired so poorly as well as Uncharted 3 in amount of GotY awards picked up..Especially if the sequel is only a couple years removed...Link and Mario have won GOTY awards from the same place but usually there's at least a 4 year gap between winning.
Getting back to ME, it might win awards from places that didn't give GOTY to ME2. Otherwise, I really don't expect say IGN to give ME3 GOTY award....

The hype will help it.
It sure helped that buggy game known as Skyrim. (Come at me, Skyrim lovers)
I preferred Morrowind Myself.
Don't tell me you're one of those guys that hypes Morrowind to be Gods gift to gaming but hasn't played it in the last seven years.

Of course, I'm hoping the same for ME3. Can't wait!!! (As long as no Origin)

So...what, were you expecting the Me3 squad to be the same as ME2? Surely not, if you have kept up on the info since ME3 was announced. With the cutback on total squad mates and the incorporation of ME1 squaddies, there was really only one conclusion to draw.
Did you expect every single ME2 character to be the exact same for ME3? Again, if so, well, stories evolve. This is how it works.
Alienating a sizeable chunk of their fan base by what? Making Jack less of a raging insecure homocidal serial killer? Really?

Oh, and we all know that the game with the most memes is going to win it.

I was rubbing my chin and wondering if you might be right until you used The Darkness 2 as an example for hopeful GOTY.
As for OP's post, mark my words carefully:
Mass Effect 3 will be critically acclaimed by review sites (but not as much as ME2) while hated by users because of Origins, Day 1 DLC, and Multiplayer.
I bet $20 on this.

If Rainbow Six does the morality choices competently and is a reasonable upgrade from the other games then it really should be a contender.
DA3 would get RPG of the year though that DA2 probably would have gotten it if they had more time. Didn't DAO get it?
ME3 will probably get it from many sites like ME2 did. From the looks of it it looks like a great step up from ME2.

I actually was lol, since they made me spend an entire game collecting them, and the threat was just looming in the distance at the end of the game on the scan Joker gave Shepard. I was expecting a lot more than they brought back.
But I prefer the ME1 squad anyway so it was good news to me when the ME3 squad details came out.
On topic: It's probably the most anticipated so if it's a good game or even decent, it probably will.
