It could be RPG of the year, but I doubt it will be GOTY

Anyway, it's too early to say, but it doesn't look good. None of the squadmates introduced in ME2 are returning as squadmates in ME3, and instead we get some random dudebro with a fauxhawk. The trailers are pretty disappointing compared to the ones for DX:HR and Skyrim last year.
Plus, GTA V is coming out next year, and GTA games have always been good since GTA III.

There are so many different publications with their own "Game of the Year" award, you should be more specific.

Game of the Year? Not likely. It'll probably be in the running for RPG of the Year though. My GOTY for 2013 is Rainbow Six right now.AlexXIV wrote...
So anyone think DA3 will get the GOTY 2013? Since we are at it.
If Rainbow Six does the morality choices competently and is a reasonable upgrade from the other games then it really should be a contender.
DA3 would get RPG of the year though that DA2 probably would have gotten it if they had more time. Didn't DAO get it?

Yep, it was pretty good. Overrated for sure (largely due to critics gushing over how sophisticated the social commentary was or whatever), but it was good.Skullheart wrote...

Did you play ME2? It was boring.

I think ME3 will win quite a few. Though personally I dont see much competition and hope it wins all the awards it can. Bioware deserves it for all the work and listening to fans to give them the best game ME3 can be.
The only game I see that might give it a run for its money is Bioshock Infinite. Other than that though - I say yes! It should. Honestly - without really putting much thought into it - It obvious ME3 will win some kind of award for something at the end of the year.

And I predict the same with Grand Theft Auto V, Bioshock: Infinite, and of course Mass Effect 3. Can big name games be overhyped and overrated? Absolutely. I was disappointed when I actually played GTA IV after all those tens it got, but I can still see why it got all that praise even if it didn't quite live up to THAT much hype for me personally. It was undeniably an incredible game.
One of those three games is almost guaranteed to take most GOTY awards. And I'm sure it'll be well-deserved like it usually is, just like when Skyrim, Arkham City or any other stellar game from this year won such an award. People seriously need to get over their own cynical hang-ups and appreciate the overall quality of the utterly incredible feats of gaming they get to play in this day and age.

If the Last Guardian even comes out this year, Scuttlebut has it the games been unofficially cancelled.HiroVoid wrote...
Not Game of the Year. Between Bioshock Infinite, GTA V, AND The Last Guardian(Who while's previous games didn't sell well, are considered among the highest forms of art in gaming.)

Was that because of the Gamestop rumor that was proven false?Phategod1 wrote...

Does it really matter? Almost every major game that is released every year gets at least one GOTY. There's so many of them.
What did Duke Nukem Forever win?

So...what, were you expecting the Me3 squad to be the same as ME2? Surely not, if you have kept up on the info since ME3 was announced. With the cutback on total squad mates and the incorporation of ME1 squaddies, there was really only one conclusion to draw.
Did you expect every single ME2 character to be the exact same for ME3? Again, if so, well, stories evolve. This is how it works.
Alienating a sizeable chunk of their fan base by what? Making Jack less of a raging insecure homocidal serial killer? Really?
ME2 was about putting together a team together to fight the reapers/collectors and in ME3 Zero Count them Zero of the "New" squadmates are coming back as members of your "permanent squad".
In what way does that make any freaking since at all?
It almost makes ME2 an unnecessary part of the story if all you get are little one-offs or cameos from your team in the actual war for the galaxy.
Am I the only one who sees it that way? Idk I might be over thinking things a bit but if it turns out how I think it will, I will be dissapointed.
A balance of old and new would have made more sense to me.
And about Jack, I would not mind if she had a slight attitude adjustment, but from what I have read it seems like it will come out of left field and end up leaving alot of people confused.Unless they fill in alot of gaps which at this point I doubt.

Especially considering most of your me1 squad simply forgot about shephard or seemed hostile to him in some way, but in me3 they suddenly forget dicking him/her around ? and the squad from me2, who in my opinion, made a bigger bond with shephard suddenly decide to leave him ? There is no normandy blowing up, and shephard being dead to use as an excuse this time. I would of liked a mixed squad too, but atleast every character makes a cameo, combigning both squads would be way too much effort, least they got the popular ones covered, i wont complain. Well...i wish they added grunt or wrex too

If this forum has proved one thing, it's that Shepard is not tough-skinned in any way whatsoever. That being the case, the galaxy is probably doomed if someone throws an insult Shepard's way during ME3.MartinDN wrote...
