@Daeel....I'm still waiting for you to tell us how you would of written everyone's romance scene. Your complaining about it but I have yet to hear you describe in detail how you think each of the romance scenes should of gone. Also don't forget you have to make it tasteful so you can satisfy the fan bases. If you don't write each of the romance scenes correct I'm sure someone can open a thread about how they didn't like your romance scenes you wrote for each character.

When I am being paid to write games I'll make sure to do a tasteful sex scene for you.

It's quite tactless for you to criticize someone for what they do for a living, when you aren't prepared to do it yourself. You may be right about all this, but stick to constructive criticism if you please, not caustic critiques.

It is not tactless at all. When someone is doing their job improperly, then they should be criticized. Surely you are not suggesting that only people in the profession can highlight their wrongs? That would be asinine.

It was constructive anyways. Plus, I find the Bioware's writing team superior than most, except when it comes to that particular scene.

What makes it worse is the music they are playing during the scene(s).

ME1 did it the right way.

I just find them lame. Cheesy. Tacky. tasteless. How else do I put this....?

I as making 2 separate points, I just failed at wording it correctly.

Again, is it THAT big a deal? A big enough deal to want them gone?

You can-

1. Skip the cutscene
2. Close your eyes.
3. Not romance someone
4. Pursue a romance with a non-tacky romance culmination.

5. Not play the game.
Because the previous 4 points are about as valid.

ME1's were better; ME2's love scenes just feel contrived.

ME1's were perfect. I don't care what Bioware says, because it's pretty clear that the whole Fox controversy had something to do with the lameness of the ME2 scenes.

If you don't like them then stop making them come up. My Shepard in ME2 did Jack, Miranda, and Tali and liked all of the scenes. So quit complaining about something you need to choose to happen.

I thought Liara's romance scene in Mass Effect 2 LOTSB was quite good, it was rather classy if you ask me.

If there was a "make oboxious noise for 12 seconds" button in Mass Effect games, OP would be completely reasonable to support its removal in ME3. Even if there were "12 seconds of obnoxious noise for LI/squadmate in ME3" threads on the BSN.

It seems like that entire DLC had the best versions of most of the stuff in game. Best squadmate mission, best romance, best environment, best boss fights....

But yeah, you're right.

Well, that's mainly your opinion. I also think it's a terribly minor concern.

I thought BSN specialized in terribly minor concerns.

Maybe, but I don't see the need of getting rid of them entirely. Do I want ME1's quality of scenes back? Absolutely. However, I'm not going to be upset if they're on ME2's level. As long as they're not Jacobtastic, that is.
There are several ways to avoid the scenes if you don't like them. Chief among them the escape button.

Or a lurker. I've been here since before ME1 came out, and I'd bet I've got fewer than 100 posts.

This.

Hehe I think no one can disagree on that.
Though I still go with it because its there.
I'm a dirty dirty man.

Whenever Alistair is leaning over my Warden, I imagine him thinking, "I'm Keith Hernandez."

I would agree the romances don't feel as special as Kaiden's.  I've only watched/done Tali/Thane/Garrus thus far, as FemShep for all but Tali, as you can tell.  Ashley's was okay, too.

Garrus's and Tali's just fade out, you know. Stick with them.

Yeah Garrus and Tali's aren't that bad. Still. Miranda's and Jacobs are awful, just awful.

Jacob gave us the most epic meme though.

That was not my main argument at all. You are going out of your way to misrepresent my argument, despite me rebuking you plenty of times.

Considering that multiple times you keep saying its for teens can jack off now your saying that isn't part of your argument? Not surprised. You first said its purpose wasn't exactly porn when I called you on it now your changing your gears.

You claim that your main problem that it isn't done right in your opinion and that they should be taken out. The majority and Bioware disagrees with you for various reasons. At this point there is little to discuss because you only keep claiming its bad for exagerated reasons. I even stated various scenes that are short just shows some grinding but no humping and barely any nudity.

There is no point in a discussion if you just say the scenes are bad and not attempting to state ways that can make them better other than it needs to not be porn.

Like I said BEFORE, these scenes are badly done because it doesn't feel like the relationship is culimating as you said. or that it represents the "bond" of these two characters. It's a slap together sex scene with little purpose. Is it so wrong to suggest they be removed if they are not serving their purpose. If they are suppose to be about the relationship reaching it climax, why are the sex scenes becoming progressively more about the suggestive actions and less about the intimiate emotions.

No you said that your problem is that Bioware showed us everything without suggestive telling in the scenes which is blatantly false.  We were barely shown anything in ME1 and the most we saw in ME2 was Jacob shirtless.

Second, I don't remember ever saying the characters are bad. I don't think they are bad. I found their romances kind of humourous actually. I dont think they are pratical, is why I do not like them. As for their sex scene, yes, it's not as bad as Miranda's. So I have no qualms with it

So your whole reason for getting rid of the sex scenes are 2 bad ones? That is just stupid.

First rule of BSN: Don't ever speak anything but praise toward Bioware romances. There's even a subforum dedicated to them. You don't wanna mess with some of the fanatics around here, or you'll end up like a victim in Saw.

Though the OP is doing a poor job of trying to communicate his point, I agree that the "romance scenes" can be pretty awkward. There is room for improvement. Personally, I thought certain scenes, like Miranda's, looked like someone trying to reinact softcore basic cable scenes with action figures. I thought Garrus' was pulled off really well though.

I am presenting my position very well thank you very much. It's the audience...

Sir, you are not. However, folk seem to be arguing over arguing, which is never that fruitful. ;)

There is a kernel of a point in the OP, I think.

ME2 sex seems a bit lame; we want better sex scenes.

ME1 better than ME2.

The problem with the depiction of sex in media is that it is always inherently silly (can be creepy and/or disturbing too).

I've got a BBC sound effects LP from 1982. It has a track called "Orgy"; absolutely hilarious - a middle class dinner party with extra tickling, it seems.

I thought ME1's scene was pretty good for a video game. not tacky, only a bit cheesy, and over before it outstayed it's welcome.

ME2's human ones can come off rather tacky. Tali's was sweet but also creepy/awkward; ditto for Garrus (he's the "Lean-Dog", so feels wrong (Wrex is the "Big-Dog")). Thane's was the best one, IMHO.

I think the main problem is the dry-humping-on-the-bed. If they'd ended with implied nudity under a sheet, they'd be more acceptable. But then programming sheet dynamics is probably a lot of effort.

I just hope ME3's are more akin to ME1's...

Virtually? I think you mean are. In a PG-13 movie they could show nudity.

@OP: I´m sorry if this was asked before (I didn´t read all of the 8 pages): If you could have written the "love-scene" how would you have made it look like?
I ask out of honest curiosity. No offence ment.

I more or less asked the same question. He opens up his OP with how tasteless and tacky Miranda and Jacob love scenes are. Then never says what he would of found more tasteful and less tacky. So you basically have no idea what he expected from the Miranda and Jacob love scene. Only thing he points out is how much he hated the hip grinding and her whispering in his ear. Again I have the same question you asked as well. How did you expect that scene to go?

Actually sex scenes doesn't have to show you anything, just to suggest anything is going. ME1 did that just well (actually the...I don't remember her name, but the "prostitute" in the presidium of ME1 wasn't even showing anything but it was very good too) because it implies something is going on and then don't break immersion, instead of showing nothing is going on like in ME2.
Actually even ME2 cuddling scenes were far better than ME2 "sex" (well, supposed to be...) scenes.

That whole argument is pretty baseless, if that story had really gained any traction do people honestly think that Jack would looked the way she had, or even Miranda or Isabela from DA2 with her dialogue. Honestly this is something where EA would be more likely to bucle first and that whole "Your mom hates this" campaign for Dead Space 2 sort of throws that out the window. The actual news segment itself was most likely the result of a producer getting lazy and looking for a shortcut as stories that pan out like this almost always are that was blown way out of proportion by the gaming community.
