I disagree, I think the number of romances is fine, because it makes for better replayability.

To be honest, I go with Isabella the most, to ensure I get the invite to her ship...it gives Hawke the best way out of Kirkwall.

Still kind of wonder if Hawke could romance Cassandra in DA3.:P

She will also invite Hawke to join her if he doesn't romance her.  And if he is in a romance with Merrill, and Hawke mentions her, she will invite Merrill along too.  I have heard (though never seen it because I can't bring myself to romance him) she will also do this if Hawke is in a relationship with Anders as well.  This is my 'canon' ending for the game.  The whole idea of sailing away on her ship to exotic ports of call just really appeals to me.

Sylvanaerie, have you wondered why Hawke has romance dialog options with Aveline? It seems like a waste of time, since Aveline only wants Donnic.

ROFL I LOVE that quest, it's my favorite one in the game!

If you take all the flirt options, and then the diplomatic choice at the end, she will give you a smooch. I thought it was kind of odd that Hawke might be harboring a 'secret' crush on Aveline. Not that it matters, she's completely oblivious to Hawke. In my head (RP) it's just my Hawke being silly with Aveline, trying to make Donnic jealous so they will end up together (though Hawke doesn't seem too happy at the end).

Wow, thanks for that, I didn't know she gave Hawke a kiss.:o

I sort of thought that Aveline considers Hawke unapproachable, seeing as how she is so protective of him.

Could be, yea.  My Hawke's always consider her a big sister.  She probably has put Hawke in "Family" zone and can't see him/her any other way.

I have only played once through and romanced Fenris so I didn't know this was possible. I love it! With the story being about the people in it more than anything else, its nice to see that the companions have a life outside of the main storylines. I'm pleased the devs added adults in my adult game. It actually made me mad when I found out Fenris hadn't been with anyone else in memory. He kills people for a living and has so much rage in him... you'd think he'd need to release some tension every now and again, you know like a normal person. Bravo DA2. One more reason I like you so much!

I did notice in act one when you had Fenris and Isabela in the party together there were "suggestions" and they amused me very much. Her being at his place in act II also made me laugh. Now that I know who else has crushes, I might have to play around a bit.

Really? I think it's perfectly okay for companions to actually have lives NOT revolving around Hawke and that it's perfectly fine if they hook up with someone else in the party. How on Earth can you declare that it's "too much." Personally, I'd feel sorry for any NPCs being stuck with someone who's apparently as jealous/possessive as you are of characters...in...a...game.

I wish they would have even gone farther than they did in DA2 - I loved the Aerie/Haer'Dalis romance in BG2 (though I was a bit baffled why they did that when female PC´s only had one romance option to start with), so no, I don´t think there are too many NPC's-only pairings.
If I remember correctly there is even only one, namely Fenris and Isabella, and they don´t elaborate on that - just one or two banters that hints at something.
The rest is just more or less awkward flirting without leading to anything.
I don´t like how in DA2 it feels as if the lives of your friends mostly revolve around you and you alone, so anything that takes away from that is welcome.

... and I like the thought of Fenris and Isabella together.
I was a bit suprised when I got that banter first, but it makes sense.
It´s the kind of relationship that starts as good friends witch benefits but has the potential to slowly turn into something more meaningful.

You aren't exactly allowed to foster head canon (which is part of the RPG experience) when the writers ruin that for you.

How silly of the writers to give the NPCs personality traits and experiences that might conflict with a fan's head canon.

Y'know, I never really found that to be an issue in DA2. Sure, the four main love interests express an interest. But other than that … I mean, the number of people eager to jump the Warden was higher.

Nope, don't mind it. In fact, I want the option to be able to nudge my companions into hooking up with each other as I dictate. Aveline and Isabela just needed to shag, dammit. Because yup, I actually would have a lot of fun with Dragon Age 2: The Japanese Dating Game. what's up. lol

I... did not notice any of these.

Then again I didn't mix up my party much. Varric, Merril and whomever else was good for combos or needed for the quest.
