I just got Mass Effect 2 for my ps3 last Wednesday (I know I'm way behind!) I'm really enjoying it, more than I thought I was. I'm obsessed with Dragon Age, but I finally gave ME2 a shot. As confusing as that digital comic was, I've gotten a handle on the ME univerese. I do have a few questions, however. I'll limit it to 2.

1.) If I just go around and recruit everyone, how close am I to the end of the game? I don't want to do that then realise that I can't go back and  do side quest or loyalty quests.

2.) How do I know if an RI is interested in Shepard? On this playthrough, I wanted her RI to be Garrus, but I talked to him right after I recruited him and now he want talk to me. The problem is that I think I may have flirted with Jacob. Is there a certain dialogue that makes it obvious? I talked to him later and either him or Shepard said something about taking a chance on one another. Did I screw up?

Thanks! I know this probably gets on peoples nervous, asking dumb questions like these, but I'm new to the Mass Effect universe and really don't know.  Posted Image

Better late than never :D and its good to hear you are enjoying it so much.

1) Yes it is entirely possible to do all the recruit missions and then all the loyalty missions without consequence.  Thats what I do usually.  The only missions you are automatically taken to are Horizon and the Collector Ship.  Once you finish the CS you will have access to the Reaper IFF mission but that mission starts the "end game" missions so its best to do everything else you want to before starting that one.

2) Yeah romances are a little tricky but dont worry you're not in any danger.  You can either just stop talking to Jacob or try to pick the more neutral response and if he ever does bring up anything about relationship just tell him no.  Garrus's romance start does not come until a bit later as he doesn't have as many conversations as some of the other squad mates.  I think it triggers after his loyalty mission, but you can check the wiki for sure.

I hope I was able to answer your questions but don't hesitate to ask again :wizard:.

Thank you so much! I'll have to wait to both of these anyways, I'm in the middle of Overlord. I thought it was a little quest like exploring the old Normandy was...I was wrong... :)

Just be sure NOT to go to the Derelict Reaper before you finish mostly everything you want to finish.

However, you can still play even after beating the game (a lot of people suggest playing LotSB or Arrival (DEFINITELY Arrival, IMO) after beating the game, for example), so as long as you do all the big stuff, you can clean up side missions after if you like.

And yeah, on Garrus, you can really only keep going with that after his loyalty mission, and it's pretty obvious when the initiating dialogue for that is. Don't worry, you're not going to "mess it up" by talking to other people! If you're concerned, just be sure to use neutral dialogue when talking to Jacob.
