That bit I understand, the question I'm asking is about Origin and if there's an opt-out option for data collection (also something about DLCs, but that's an extra one myself and a few others need an answer on, the Origin data collection opt out's the biggie for me).Siegdrifa wrote...
Be aware, the data collection of ME3 should be the same as ME2, used later for statistic, this is not the contreversial collected data from the Origin client.

The "D06F00D" thing refers to a particular software industry practice.

When you think about it, I can't imagine EA being the open and transparent company that a provision of an open source version of their software would imply. Valve doesn't do it either, and people keep saying how open, transparent, etc. they are.

Wise.
Agreed. But I'm gonna wait for this open origin to come out and see.

Actually I think it is technically feasible to make an OSS version of Origin, and not a bad idea at all. It could also help with the spyware rumors, so the idea is not that far fetched.
Like you I won't jump to conclusions, considering how often EA have changed it's policies lately I have had a wait-and-see stance for a while.

Why is it possible to get Kingdoms Of Amalur : Reckoning on Steam and not ME3?
Because the company that makes KoA isn't owned by EA.

IIRC because EA is just the publisher and not the owner of the developer, I guess that's a different situation than with a studio they own.

I think it is because EA is only the publisher of KOA and it is made by a different game studio (38 studio). Whereas ME3. is made and published by Bioware/EA

Developer is not owned by €A and that deal was made before €A decided to force Origin to everyone.
Just my guess.

Or because this is a new franchise so they want it to be distributed by many means to reach the maximum audiance.
ME3 is like BF3, destinated to sell millions because this is a highly anticiped game from succesfull franchise, KOA:R .... not yet.
