I have answers to frequently asked questions. They are below and I have added them to the questions in the first post.

9) Can I install Origin, install Mass Effect 3 and then uninstall Origin and keep playing Mass Effect 3? Even if I only want to play the Single Player Game?
Mass Effect 3 requires Origin to be played, so you cannot play Mass Effect 3 without Origin being installed. This applies to both the single player and multiplayer games.

10) If I have uninstalled Mass Effect 3 or Origin, do I need to reinstall Origin to reinstall Mass Effect 3?
You must have Origin installed to play Mass Effect 3. You would need to reinstall Origin and Mass Effect 3.

11) If I have installed Mass Effect 3 and Origin, do I need to keep the install/gameplay disc in the disc drive to play?
Once you have installed Mass Effect 3 and Origin, you do not have to keep the disc in the tray

I am continuing to work on other questions. Please continue to ask your unanswered questions below.

Gloating is probably not going to be super helpful to anyone right now. Not trying to be antagonizing or anything, just pointing it out.

if origin is used for installation why do i need to keep it installed for playing?   so basically you guys want to redirect business from steam into origins, right? that is the real intension

I understand. I'm not trying to gloat, but people were so worked up over this when the answer was right in front of their eyes.

Origin = no sale. Bioware is dead to me now and I have bought Bioware games since the original Baldur's Gate. I may give in and finish the series on PS3 but I will be damn sure to buy used if I do so EA doesn't see a dime. It will also be the last Bioware game I ever play.

For real? Origin is just making sure to protect their software rights. They are not going into the files systems to raid your computer. Its just like the software protection that Microsoft uses on Windows. Are you going to get rid of Windows because they do they same thing? Also, its not just these two doing it. Adobe, Apple, Norton, etc., all have software protection. This should only make people who want to torrent their software mad, because they aren't getting it for free.

It doesn't stop anyone torrenting. Steam copies end up on torrent sites and it's far more secure than Origin.

This attitude is like when people say you shouldn't be worried about the Patriot Act or Spy cameras because if you aren't doing anything wrong it shouldn't bother you. I mean it's not like anyone has ever been wrongfully convicted for something or a major company has been hacked and public information stolen oh wait yes it happens all the time. Would you allow EA to come to your house and search through your private things it for illegal games as a requirement for buying ME3? I mean if you aren't doing anything wrong why wouldn't you?

If badly implimented these programs can allow a back door to your pc for hackers also.

Once again these systems do nothing but treat legal customers as criminals while pirates continue to play games hassle free.

I love the fact people are actually saying "Just buy another PC!"  Because spending a few hundred on a new PC because EA are forcing you to install their dodgy software isn't at all crazy.

Because they want to promote it - which basically is the translation of providing the best possible service.

Regarding the redirection of business towards Origin and the subsequent increase opportunities and margin it brings. Are people actually suprised by this? It was clearly the whole point from the very inception of Origin and for that matter the EADM, same with Steam.

I heard that we'll need Origin only once...while installing ME3 and then we can play ME3 singleplayer offline.

Responding to the bolded:  As a general business practice, this isn't really a bad thing.  EA/Bioware wants to make money, that's their whole point of existance.  They make games, in Bioware's case they generally make really good games, and then sell those games to make money.

Origin has a shady past, and consumer trust in the service is very low.  I've seen people who've run tests that show that Origin is not currently acting any differently than Steam is, so my personal trust in the service is at least high enough that I'll use it to play ME3.  Once I'm done with ME3, I may rethink keeping Origin on my computer, since ME3 is the ONLY reason I'll use it, but for now, I'm cautiously ok with using it.

I can see how others have an issue with the service, and I respect their decisions to not buy ME3 with Origin included, since their concerns have a basis in past performance by Origin.  I just hope EA rethinks the whole thing for the future, since DRM really doesn't help prevent piracy, and really only hurts (inconviences?) the valid consumer.

edit:  Changed some wording.

okay, Im out. I had hope left that I can play ME3 without Org siting around on my HD and doing nothing, but this way, no.

Anyway, I have some questions in mind:

1)Can we play ME3 Singelplayer complete without I-net connection wehn registert once? (just to be sure)

2)Can we play ME3 DLCs without I-net connection?

3)Can we direct were ME3 will be installed, or is it attached to Origin, like this Steam-games ?

thanks.

I hope my grammer isn't too bad...

Their past has shown what the software is capable of doing. And the EULA still reserves the right to do data mining. So, nothing has really changed other than the current behaviour.

Some inappropriate discussion of software piracy removed. Such discussion is a violation of Rule #7 of our community's Site Rules, linked at the bottom of every forum page. Let's stop doing that, please.

Here goes a good one for you, Mr. Priestly

1) How does Origin Work? Does it work as a Windows Service (continues background execution)?
2) Must Origin be running to execute the game?

These are good questions. I'm gonna say...

1. Yes. I believe they already said this.

2. Good one. I would think so, but this definitely needs confirmation

3. Another excellent question. I'd say it will work like Battlefield (which I don't have, someone who DOES have it on PC, speak up).

Which is why I understand people who aren't willing to use Origin.  Currently, Origin isn't behaving badly.  That's what I'm basing my decision around.  My hope is that the original behaviour of Origin (scanning files and folders that it had no business to) was a bug in the system, that Origin was intended to be nothing more than a direct competitor to Steam.  With that hope, and the current behavior of Origin, I am cautiously optimistic that the "bug" has been fixed, and things will continue as they currently are.  Origin will be watched quite closely for some time, due to the furor this has caused, and I will keep an eye out for reports of suspicious behavior.  If this stuff happens again, Origin is gone, but for now, as things stand, I'm ok with using the service.

1. What is planned regarding the game licenses when Origin will shut down for whatever reasons?
2. Will EA provide a detailed list of data they collect from their customers?
3. Will EA provide the data stored about a customer when such request is made by a customer

Thank you
