Do you believe that EDI will get a appearance redesign to represent a more natural human look? I know Virtual Intelligence helpers like Mira in Noveria look more human. Is the appearance of EDI in ME2 due to the fact that Cerberus does not possess the technology to replicate EDI in human form? In Mass Effect 2 EDI was basically a snowglobe/NBA trophy look alike with some lips talking to Shepard.

Probably not. It would be rather confusing for ME2 veterans, and we've not seen any Alliance AIs yet. I think BioWare intentionally made her non-organic in appearance.

I admit, it would be nice to see a digitized Tricia Helfer. The glow-y light veins in the VI avatar's eyes, not so much.

After Normandy gets overhauled by the Alliance, EDI takes the form of Joker's mother to make him feel more awkward.

EDI will probably be embedded in Shepard's omni tool so Shepard could access the situation of the battlefield with EDI beside him.
As for a squad member, EDI could probably hack into Legion's Geth Body and gain access to Legion's system and completely take over. EDI-Legion Hybrid
