@Ieldra2 and RandomJerkface--thank you.

I find it rather shallow that most people assume that 'EDI in a body' = 'EDI sexbot'. That's just dumb.
It's not shallow, it's based on actual evidence, as Syllogi noted. It's why I put a warning at the beginning of my post. There's nothing "shallow" about "assuming" something when you've actually read it in a confirmed draft of the ME3 script.
Even if we were not working from evidence, it would not be shallow. It would be premature or reactionary, but hardly shallow.

Anyways, I'm basically just saying wait
and see. I would be very, very, VERY surprised if Bioware didn't make
EDIs ME3 story interesting and worthy of some overhauls to her look and
role in the story.
I don't think anyone disputed that Bioware knows how to make their stories interesting or that they had their reasons. The problem is, this is plot-driven instead of being character-driven. Character fidelity has taken a backseat to making a point within the plot. The implications behind this are disturbing--I believe they are unintentional and light-hearted, but they are still disturbing and I cannot fathom why this was not seen by the developers. I have to think some of them did see, but were shouted down. Regardless, no amount of good writing can completely save plot choices like these and the inevitable BSG comparisons.
I just hope they gave her a decent outfit, meaning, one which actually covers her and is functional and not too desperately tight. It's the only thing that could save me from getting nauseous every time I look at her. Unfortunately, I have little doubt that it will at least be very tight. ME likes tight suits on almost everyone who's not a merc or Shepard.

Would you like that Ymir (the most
powerful warbots so far) look more like a woman? Honestly, female
features on a robot only serve one purpose. And it has nothing to do
with war. Why not go all the way and make her a cyborg with human skin?
Hey, and since robots don't need clothes, she should be naked. But of
course only to kick ass, not because anyone would be drooling at ... um
... it. I mean as if it is not ridiculous already to refer to EDI as
'she'. I mean she has a female voice, but why should a computer have a
sex or be sexual at all? I like the idea of ships being refered to as
she from a romantic point of view. Like 'the captain and his ship'.
Captains are the last who leave the ship or go down with their ship like
Shepard in ME2. But why ruin this kind of romantic picture with
bringing in sex? I want EDI to be my ship. If I need a robot to follow
me around I'll ask Legion. Or Miranda *cough*.
I really could not agree with you more. I liked the fact that EDI's presence was pretty much everywhere on the Normandy. I liked her as my ship. I liked her and Joker monitoring the situation, I liked having living people on the ground with me and them watching over us. This is just so unnecessary, to change her role so drastically. I rarely mind change, but EDI was very different from the other characters. To see her take on such a traditional role, the squadmate, is disappointing to say the least. It would have been less so if she'd simply had a Legion-style mobile platform, but even then, I liked EDI being one with the ship. It was a cool idea. Too bad they didn't see it that way.

But honestly. Who would have rather had another squadmate from ME1 or ME2 over fembot EDI? *raises hand high*
Maybe that's just me, but I feel like it's not. The whole thing just seems a bit silly imo.
I would have so preferred that they put development time into that than into giving EDI a body. I hate that they made so many squadmates last game, and that so many were killable. They just did too much, and now everyone's spread so thin... I wish they'd made different choices. Narrowed it down a little more. Now it's pretty obvious they were reaching for more guaranteed options for the player which weren't actually new characters.
