Why not take a YMIR mech body then? And why would a SHIPBOARD AI even need to go into ground combat?

What about the AI's feelings in all this? yeah I bet she hates the idea of getting closer to Joker... and it was Joker that put the order in to start with...

I'm going to agree with this one. What was so wrong of the idea that EDI is the Normandy's 'conscience' and just that. Why the need for a humanoid body if the Normandy is the 'body'? It's just like turning an ok idea into a ridiculous idea. And yeah, Andromeda rip off. I never got used to this TV show and I certainly don't need ME turn into it.

I retract my previous statement.

Well, she can help the crew aboard the ship with physical tasks or help Shepard on the ground in more ways than just giving him/her information. They can send the body on a dangerous mission without risking anyone's life.

She can also experience different environments and situations firsthand, which I'd imagine that an AI would be pretty curious about.

Just to mention a few.

It's funny how it suddenly a bad thing when this particular AI wants to expand her views, but when the Reapers, geth and that AI on the Citadel tries to do it, it's an acceptable part of the "lore" or some crap like that.

As long as EDI wouldn't be an obvious sexbot but actually a usefull asset on away missions. It's is fine. Given recent history with BioWare games, the sexbot seems likely. Atleast it wouldn't make me rage when going into hostile environments in casual clothing.

Ignoring how tired a trope it is, it's not EDI getting a body, it's the likelihood that BioWare will also use that body for cheap fanservice -- there's already the vomit-worthy Jokermance, of which I still hold out the desperate hope is cut.

Also -- unrelated -- who else thinks that Chipo Chung would have made an awesome EDI?
