And those were a joke.

They were so bad it was comical. Of course, you could brainwash people into marrying you by wearing jewellery.

That was ridiculous. I was just pointing it out because some people like to go on about how great Skyrim is.

Where's that crazy "post-Skyrim era" guy when you need him?

Just a random thought here: Skyrim had weddings.

My Skyrim wedding was the best.

My former deceased companion (Lydia) attended the wedding still very much dead and my soon-to-be wife didn't like that very much.  The soon-to-be-wife stormed out leaving me with Lydia's corpse.  I had to use the console to resurrect Lydia and then go hunt down the soon-to-be-wife in order to propose to her again (and apologize for...inviting a dead person to the wedding I suppose).  Then we got successfully married and the wifey plus zombie-Lydia are both living in my house!

I'm sorry, but a Shepard/Liara wedding can't beat that!

Well duh. Everyone knows that Skyrim's romances are by far the most developed of ANY game! Because, they're in Skyrim, and Skyrim is the best thing since sliced bread, so of course it has amazing romances.

LMAO. The only reason I got married in Skyrim was to see if Lydia's body would regenerate (she unexpectedly died during our first dragon encounter going up to visit the Greybeards for the first time) so I could revive her with a console command. Alas, she was so angry about being roasted to death that she did not attend.

They were gender neutral and boring.

No. Please no. As much as my Shep loves Liara, that kinda stuff really needs to remain off screen, I imagine lots of terrible cringeworthy tacky-ness. DO NOT WANT

I like Sten better than the Arishok personally.

Sten picks flowers (even if they were for medicinal purposes). The Arishok does not.

The Arishok gets killed in a 1-1 against a lowly human, The Sten does not.

The only wedding, I'd attend to would be my wedding with Kaidan!

I swear, if it will be possible, I'll dump Miri for Kaidan with my Paragade.

Also, Skyrim marriages wereof Skyrim quality. Best evar.

Sooo... why isn't this being discussed in the Liara thread? I really don't see a reason for a whole new topic for this... but hey, that's just me.

Sten gets beaten in a 1-1 with the Warden.  If you take him with you to Haven without too much friendship anyway.

I'd like it that a marriage thing could happen at the end of the game for any LI for any gender Shepard. Equal Opportunity for all.

Maybe not the actually wedding but maybe a proposal at the end of the game or something... optional of course, but I'd be down for my Shep and Liara getting married

So basically you expect a happy war ending and some flash-forward to Liara and Shep getting married then Que end credits? I'd be really turned of from ME if that was the case. Plus how do we even know that Asari have weddings? Thats sort of a religion thing and Asari seem pretty loose to me especially in their Maiden stages so marriage seems a little out of character for their race

Mordin looks even more serious (never thought it possible), and Thane (forgive me) looks drugged. He's got to be - his default outfit is way better than a tux.

Liara looks really pretty in a wedding dress. Too bad it's only fan art.

It would be cool if they got married while in the middle of some major battle. Just like in Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End.
"I now pronounce you" *grunts* *BANG*
"... I now pronounc -" *Slice* *Push*
"AAHHH JUST KISS!!!"
That would be sweet ^_^

Just for the lulz.

In all seriousness, I wouldn't mind marriage for romance options AFTER the conclusion to the game.

You're in way after, actually.

It would be pretty terrible for atmosphere. Why would you take cues from a film series whose writing is supposed to be tongue-in-cheek when ME takes itself seriously?

While I find this amusing... Pirates is not a comedy, my friend. It is rated by the same standards as which Mass Effect is rated, "Adventure Fantasy." Furthermore, does not Mass Effect also share in it's moments of "tongue-in-cheek" writing? (e.g. "Joker: I think I broke a rib, or all of them." or even Mordin's little chat with Shepard on interspecies sex and attraction. >when he thought I was hitting on him, that just blew me away! haha) I understand your confusion, but please understand that I hold any major series in very high regard and will defend it and its creators.

Besides, could you honestly see them getting married any other way... :innocent:
... other than some slow, emotionally drawn wedding that takes place after the Reapers are destroyed. >This is also good for concluding on those who have lived through the war itself, being able to see Shepard embrace his/her new life with the one he's/she's desired to be with for eternity. Definitely worth fighting for..

And where did I say that Pirates is meant to be a comedy? I said that the writing was tongue-in-cheek, which it quite is. It doesn't shy away from being over-the-top, but revels in it. The fact that both it and ME are classified as "adventure fantasy" means absolutely nothing, and that's a terribly weak line of reasoning. Mass Effect and Grand Theft Auto are both listed as third-person shooters, but that means absolutely sh*tall, and I highly doubt you'd try to claim that they should utilise the same tropes. You can't seriously sit there and argue that just because two works share genre they must share writing techniques -- especially humour.

Having a wedding in the midst of a firefight (whilst reapers are sh*tting lasers and ordnances on you from overhead, no less) is absolute manure. It worked in PotC because it was meant to be jokey. In Mass Effect, where the fights and myriad enemies are approached as a real and present threat (and where the carnage the reapers leave is treated solemnly), this would be absolutely idiotic and would only serve to make the characters look idiotic. PotC was tongue-in-cheek action and visual humour interspersed with drama. Mass Effect is action and narrative drama interspersed with cheeky dialogue. Crossing the two of them is just an awful idea. ME romances really don't need any more help looking ridiculous.
