Bethany is just a sweet girl. Sebastian's issue with mages has more to do with their violent behavior (or the use of blood magic) than the Chantry. He can and will join Hawke defending the mages at the end (if Hawke chooses) and makes a point of saying (paraphrased) "these mages aren't Anders. They don't deserve this."

When you get to the scene in Act 3 where it all goes to the 'fan'.  He points out that the RoA is stupid since the man responsible for the action that it's called for is standing right in front of them.

I completley forgot about that, yes, you're right, he does defend the mages. Interesting-I do like him as a character anyway.

Actually he doesn't.  He defends the honor of the chantry.  Meredith is clearly usurping the power of the Grand Cleric during the emergency (legal or not....and I still hold that this was a stealth retcon...DG and I have argued this point before), but completely ignores her duties to bring the one person clearly responsible to justice.

Sebastian is no friend to the mages, but there is only so much rank injustice and hypocrisy he can stand especially from someone that is senior in the Chantry (like KC Meredith) that should know better!

If there's some offhand mention of Bethany shacking up with Sebastian in DA3, I'm all for it. Give her some chance at happiness.

I would love to see Beth and Seb to get together. I added a note under both their Trivia sections, on their respective pages, about how they were both written by Jennifer Hepler, and how they, in MoTA, spark a possible interest in each other. Unfortunately, someone seems to have taken both notes down. Can't imagine why.

I think BioWare should make it, that if the player fills certain conditions - including not romancing him - they should pair them up.

God. I can actually feel my teeth melt from all the sweetness.

I absolutely love the idea of Carver and Merrill. I even go as far as to imagine in the playthrough where Carver doesn't die and Hawke doesn't romance Merrill that Carver and Merrill end up being a couple. In the playthrough where Hawke does romance Merrill and Carver is alive I imagine that is a strain on Carver and Hawke relationship. The fact that Hawke got the girl is another thing that Carver is jealous of, at least in my head.

Bethany and Sebastian while I find them adorable I just don't have the love for them the same way I do for Carver and Merrill.

I'd like to see GW Carver and Merrill. Not Templar Carver and Merrill. Not to worry, 8 times out of 10 he's a GW in my games. I only went templar with him a couple times, the first was my unspoiled first playthrough where I left him behind, and the second time I did it to see what he says/does during a templar run.

Frankly, I prefer him as a Grey Warden. If I can't have Nate, I'd prefer to think Carver or Bethany get him.

Maybe it's because of my perspective as a man whose sisters have an exceptional talent for finding dimwits and misfits for boyfriends, but I'm totally rooting for Sebastian/Bethany pairing. He has more than five coppers to his name, he's sober and he can count up to twenty without taking off his shoes.

Carver can go hug an ogre before I let him put his mitts on my Merrill.
