 Hello kind support staff

Today I reinstalled Mass Effect 2 on my computer, after having been forced to format my harddrive and reinstall windows. The download and install went fine and no issues were reported. However, when I start the launcher and click "Play" nothing happens. I get the sound from clicking the first time I click, but no processes are started of any kind. I can follow all the other buttons of the launcher just fine, only the Play-button is being un-responsive.

Here is a list of my relevant system specs as shown in the configuration window.

Operating System: Windows XP, service pack 3
CPU: 2,6 GHz 6700 Duo Intel
RAM: 3,24 GB (limited by 32 bit Windows)
Video Card: nVidea GeForce GTX 550 Ti
Audio: Soundblaster X-Fi, DirectX 10.0

The gameversions are:
Game: 1.00
Launcher: 1.01
Config: 1.02
Uninstall: 1.03

I thank you in advance for any help that anyone can provide.

There is no "Support Staff" in here. Just a few game players.

You didn't name any drivers, but "RECENT" nVIDIA drivers are mostly bad where this game is concerned.

Sorry about the word RECENT having been omitted in the initial comment above (now edited in with added quotes and underlined for emphasis).

" This forum is for fans and owners of Mass Effect 2 on the PC to assist each other with technical questions. Official game support is provided by Electronic Arts, but fans are encouraged to try to assist each other here. "

What else am I supposed to use than nVidia drivers when I have an nVidia gfx card installed?
It has run fine in the past, admitted with a GeForce 8800, and not the current 550

Drivers newer than 258-something will fail, for the most part.

So at first glance, my best bet would be to uninstall my gfx drivers and find some older ones? I swear sometimes computers make absolutely no sense

Soo I feel rather silly now. I was looking through the FAQ (again) and realised I had not yet tried patching the game to 1.02.
Patching the game fixed the problem right up and it now works as intended.

Interesting!

Lots easier than the only thing I could come up with.

Have fun playing the game!
