In ME2 it was sad to see how Shepard (and all squadmates) held the Locust. I mean, just look:
.

.
The weapon is clearly designed to be held with one hand in the trigger and other in the other thing where the second hand goes. But it was held like the Shuriken.
.
Why can't it be held like this?

Why, gods? Why?! The same thought is valid for the Tempest.
.
Now, in Mass Effect 3 there is evidences that suggest it might change or might not. For one, Cerberus troops seems to hold their SMG like a rational human being. In the other hand, some pictures suggest Shepard don't. In the collector edition trailer, when they show the SMG, Shepard is seeing holding it in that  lame way.
.
Any thoughts on the matter?

I hope Shepard will hold Submachine guns properly, but I doubt he/she will. Doesn't bother me that much, but it would be a nice addition.

It would be nice, but it's easily pushed aside because if Shepard has the strength to fire the widow and claymore, a puny SMG should not require the use of a grip.

^ This.

It doesn't bother me. If it bothers you that much, don't use it.

If any class can wield a Heavy Pistol and SMG now, then wouldn't it be cool if we could go all akimbo-style against the Reapers?
Locust and Phalanx, working in harmony...

NO, no, no, no Mass Effect 3 does not need Akimbo. Keep Akimbo out of Mass Effect 3!!!!!!

I noticed this too. It annoyed me at first but it went away after a few minutes. It's kind of like the overly long necks humans have in the game. I'll notice it for a few minutes and then stop caring.
Would be cool if it was changed for the game. But it's minor. The necks though...Posted Image

lmfao. feeling nostalgiac about all the jokes about noobs in CS and other shooters surrounding Akimbo weapons.

The SMG thing did bother me at first, but after you play the game for a while, you kind of forget about it. I'm pretty sure the OP was just trying to make a joke about it, though, because it does look kind of ridiculous.

Amen. Leave it alone. as for holding it properly, I would love to see it, and think that modular foregrips in general for SMGs and possibly some AR's to help combat muzzle climb (which is their intended purpose in actuality) would be a neat addition.

Yeah that does annoy the heck out of me sometimes. It's not a big deal, but it would make things look a lot better.

In one of the trailers shown at E3, Cerberus troops are shown holding the Locust correctly. I'd say that's a reason to be hopeful.

I agree, and I also hope SMGs and Pistols aren't placed on the same location on Shepard's armor when not in use.

I highly doubt it. It doesn't seem bioware has changed any of their sub par combat animations. Movement, cover, gun holding, they're all the same as they were in ME2. Which is disappointing because ME2 was a good game, but its combat animations were terrible, I mean awful, BF has better animations and it's first person.

It always bothered me in ME2. I would really like to see them put the effort into having Shepard hold the SMGs properly; but I'm skeptical they will.

The fact that we'll be facing enemies who wield SMGs other than the Shuriken this time around should give them extra reason to get this right though.

Well, Sheperd does seem to defy everything we know about the limitations of human beings, even relative to other humans in the ME universe. Sometimes I wonder if Shepered is REALLY just a human, or some type of crazy cross between a human and a god or something. Think Hercules.

Why should he? Shepard has displayed the ability to use weaponry meant for Krogan and even a sniperrifle that can break someone's arm. The recoil on a SMG won't be much of a bother.

My biggest hope is that they *run around* with the things properly. Unless you're moving while you're aiming/firing, there's really no reason to hold a gun in front of your face All The Time.

Especially sniper rifles. Might as well run around with a telescope glued to one eye, and an eyepatch over the other.

True. Would love to see this fixed for ME3. I don't know who's advising them on milspec. tactics but I do have a bone or three to pick with them. Not that they do a terrible job, just to a trained eye it can be a bit distracting during game play. To OP, nice choice of the M44 for the pic! Thing is like a typewriter for taking death's dictation, the Viet Cong loved em, and some SOG guys that served in Vietnam swear by them.

I'm surprised you made a thread about this OP. This is actually a pet peeve of mine about the game, but I never thought someone else shared my views on this.

BW, please take note: if a weapon has a grip, use it!

Hmm now that you mention it he does hold it wrong. I never noticed that until I read this thread. Oh well, doesn't bother me much personally. However, it would be good to be corrected since its more factually acurate(Yeah I know sci-fi game with aliens lol)...

It seems they will since the grip will be one of the attachments for weapon (I think) that you can add as an upgrade.
