Will Shepard hold SMGs properly this time?

This actually bothered me the first few times I used the SMGs. From the ME3 previews, like the idiotic "point and run" animation, I'd guess it's been fixed.

Still minor.

Well, Sheperd does seem to defy everything we know about the limitations of human beings, even relative to other humans in the ME universe. Sometimes I wonder if Shepered is REALLY just a human, or some type of crazy cross between a human and a god or something. Think Hercules.

Shepard isn't really just a human anymore. Shepard is pretty much a cyborg with greatly enhanced strength and such thanks to the Lazarus Project. The recoil of an SMG wouldn't really be an issue for him/her.

It wouldn't, but I imagine an Alliance soldier who's been on active duty for over a decade would still retain gun training (like posture), regardless of whether she or he needed it. We already know Shepard is the Terminator. We don't really need to be reminded of that particular conspicuously unbelievable plot development.

This enhanced strength argument is pretty bad. It's more of a excuse than anything. It's not about recoil, it's about having the proper grip of a weapon to effectively use it. Additionally, squadmate also hold their SMGs like Shepard.

The recoil clearly is still an issue, since the tempest loses so much accuracy when you fire it full auto.

Its about accuracy and due to limited recoil and auto targeting using the grip for Shepard isn't necessary to use it accurately.

The weapons don't auto-target. They correct for atmospheric factors.

IIRC, of course.

Actually its targeting auto assists not auto targeting.

Not just squadmates we'll also be facing enemies using SMGs (other than the Shuriken) this time around.  Some of the early footage I saw showed them firing SMGs like pistols.

But; this screenshot shows a Cerberus trooper (the one in front of the Turian) supporting a Hornet SMG by holding the underside (if you can't see it clearly right click and select "view image" to see it full size)....

So maybe there's hope.

I know, that is why I said it on the op. I really hope it's not just them.

I never used SMGs since I almost always played Soldier, now though when we have more choice of weapons I will most likely use SMGs since the Locust was better than most ARs, so it might bother me a little.

Well the weapons are going to be rebalanced so I wouldn't count on the Locust being better than an AR this time around.

I just hope that my soldier can equip an SMG in place of a pistol this time around because having a full auto Tempest to back up my semi auto Mattock would be very handy.

Shep can't bother with this piddly crap. He has to save earth! He has the upgrades to hold very heavy weapons, so who cares if one "handle" isn't being used?!?

Most? It was better than the Avenger, maybe Geth Pulse rifle which I almost didn't use so I can't say much, but that was it. All other AR were more effective than the Locust.

Agree. Locust will be a good backup if my Mattock runs dry, though.

It's good to see others are bothered by that too. It's not a big deal, but being a soldier, Shepard would look to maximize the potential of the weapon by holding it properly. It should also not just have a support hand on the foregrip, but Shepard should hold it in much tighter to his/her body similar to a rifle. Of course that's if we want to be picky. If they don't change it, I won't lose sleep over it.

The GPR wasn't great. It was better than the Avenger at pretty much everything except taking out armor, but it had ridiculously low damage per shot. It was a gimmick weapon for most Shepards (except, I suppose, Adepts) and useless in any of your squadmates' hands except Zaeed's (and he was still better off using the Incisor).

Comparing it to the Locust...the GPR had a higher theoretical RoF to compensate for its low shot damage, and was superior against barriers or shields, but couldn't punch through armor like the Locust could.

I can't believe how much sleep I've lost over this subject... the rings around my eyes have turned white. <--- see avatar

Any improvement would be nice though.

Well, from the knetic video it seems Shepard still hold SMGs like a monkey. Really sad news...
.
But I'll keep some hope untill the end. The same as I'm doing with ME3's animations.

Don't forget how retarded the character models draw their pistols/smgs as well. Who the heck reaches over to their opposite side to draw their sidearm?

Also theres something not quite right about the way characters hold and fire the shotguns, especially considering the guns' length and how high they are held.

I too would love improvements to how weapons are held, but also the stances used. And I agree that SMG's and Pistols need the most improvement.

Shepard is/was N7 so I've always assumed that at least Shep would have the training, sorta like TCFS.

Here's what I mean if anyone is interested: http://policelink.mo...fighting-stance

GPR was useful for Adepts since it cut through shields like butter.

Oh, and in OP, the person in the photo has bad trigger discipline.  Please take finger off trigger if not actively shooting something, thanks.

If by properly you mean with the barrel in his/her mouth while he contemplates why he would ever use the nubby SMG, then yes, I do hope he/she holds it properly.

But good point, we aren't playing Call of Duty here but it doesn't bother me a large amount (although easy fix).

We have been claiming that the SMG's (except for the first one), shouldn't be held like pistols, since ME2 was first released.

....And from the video gameplay footage we've seen that includes the Tempest and the Locust, it doesn't appear that Bioware has given a damn. :-P
