Shepard should hold all guns sideways and with one arm. Even Sniper Rifles.

Because Animation continuity is not a strong point of the animation team.

The Claymore and Widow were redesigned so a human could fire it.
Shepard has no super strengh, recoil still affects him and holding a gun wrong will make it worse.
Case closed, LAWYERED!

"The Widow was never designed to be carried and fired by a human.
Although this modified model can be carried, no ordinary human could
fire it without shattering an arm.
"

"Very rare krogan
shotgun. Deals high damage at short range; less effective at long
range. Effective against armor, shields and biotic barriers. It is of
human design but is only used by krogan, due to the fact that the
kickback from a single shot has enough force to break a human's arm
.
Protected by Fabrication Rights Management (FRM) technology, this weapon
is nearly impossible to reproduce and is prohibitively expensive."

The Claymore and Widow would have still broken Shepard's arm.

To be fair, the Prothean beacon should shatter a non prothean mind, but Shepard is no ordinary human.Even moreso after getting the cyber upgrades. I see no prob with Shep firing a BFG. But I am off topic, so I will shut up now.Posted Image

He also needs to speak in ebonics and use the words "n**ga" and "hoe"

My biggest hope is that they *run around* with the things properly. Unless you're moving while you're aiming/firing, there's really no reason to hold a gun in front of your face All The Time.

Especially sniper rifles. Might as well run around with a telescope glued to one eye, and an eyepatch over the other.

This.

Am kinda glad the OP brought this to attention. Seeing the Tempest and Locust held on one handgrip made it look like Shepard was straining to hold it upright. The pistols and the SMG's look so heavy with their bulk even though they're intended to fold up.
And in reference to an earlier post on this thread, the shotguns did look odd with Shepard not bracing it against his/her shoulder. I've used shotguns before, and even the ones with the most gentle recoil required being braced against the shoulder to draw a smooth bead.

But recoil is still a problem, i forgot wich weapon is is but the kick on it is just too much.

MGS 3 proved, there are tactical reasons to hold the gun sideways.Posted Image

I was thinking this the other day. Would be cool but it isnt totally neccessary. You can hold a gun really any way so long as you can achieve accurate shots and so forth. It's just there I guess for soldiers that need additional stability when firing. Shepard dosent need to use it, because he is gangster. Or something

now that i think of it, i can imagine how they reduced the weight of the widow: mass effect fields, of course! the best part is, that i can't even say whether i'm serious about that.

on topic: would be a cool change - footage suggests it's not going to happen, though. :(

No no no,

If you look at the weapons in most shooting games, you'll notice the ejector and safely on the left side of the gun that is oriented on the right side of the screen. AKA ejecting the burning hot casing across your field of vision because almost all shooters have the rifle on the right side of the screen (also ignoring that a trained soldier will switch hands to gain a safer field of fire behind cover).

TL;DR, the vast majority of shooting games have their Player Character shooting the wrong type of weapon in conjunction with their ocular dominance. And this from someone who has some neat burn scars on their right arm due to lazy government standard issue equipment.

I think we've found our culprit, ppl: Bureaucrats.

It would be nice, but it's easily pushed aside because if Shepard has the strength to fire the widow and claymore, a puny SMG should not require the use of a grip.

This has probably been touched on, but it's not about strength - it's about accuracy. Fine aim control.

The Tempest, Revenant and Avenger have the worst recoil. It would be nice if that got reduced in ME3.

We will be able to mod our weapons, we just have to see which particular mods can be used on the different weapons.

I'm looking forward to a scoped Revenant! That is, if a scope is still expected to work for a Revenant. ^_^

It bothers me a lot to be honest. They shouldn't have made the Shuriken SMG without a grip.

Ah well, as long as Shepard uses pistol in all the cutscenes, instead of switching it around even in middle of cutscenes.

The Shuriken is more like a G18 machine pistol from MW3. Fires super fast but terrible accuracy and recoil. Don't think G18 can even attach a grip IRL to be honest.
Tempest is like the FMG, big magazine and big recoil.
Locust is like MP9, smallest magazine with the best accuracy.

TBH, the weapon designers for the Mass Effect series are terrible artists. Virtually all the weapons make no sense mechanically. I still don't understand why most guns have 2 barrels :?.

Only idiots that don't know how to fire guns do this.  First, you can't aim and expect to hit anything. Second, the shell ejects and flies directly toward your face. :pinched:

Watch this at time stamp 1:52 and you'll see a perfect example of what I'm talking about!

Errm, no.

The shell doesn't eject backwards, or it'd hit you regardless of how you held it.
