Area maps going completely black?

Some of the area maps on my game are going completely black. I can see the characters, and some random objects and a glowing red thing in the distance but I'm walking into blackness. I've tried restarting and all the usual stuff, how do I fix this?

Not quite sure on how to fix this, though I do know this bug happened to me a few times in Origins as well as once or twice in Dragon Age II.
Simply try exiting the current are you're in and travel to another location then come back, this fixed it for myself.
Installing the game on your HDD can also prevent this bug from occurring from personal experience.
