Call me old fashioned but this recurring elitist element (it's not just thread rating) bothers me. Any way to allow thread makers to disable rating (perhaps even as default :happy:) while creating threads (obviously it shouldn't be possible afterwards)?

I think the rating system is meant for "useful" or fun a topic is, but it might just be used as a sort of popularity contest by some people, that's just my opinion.

I understand that, and it's not that I really fear it would be overly abused. I just don't like that there's the potential. I, for one, have no interest in seeing any of my threads rated, and I know I'd never use it to guess as to a particular thread's usefulness (which is completely subjective) myself. And just not showing it (in case anyone thought of that as a possible alternative), which might be easier to implement, does not really address my issue.

The rating system is a waste of space and should simply be removed. It is only ever going to be abused on the rare occasions it gets uses at all. A much better system would be a "recommended read" tag/badge that could be awarded by BioWarians, BioMods or some for of community representatives (like the NWN2 Community Reps).
