So I'm currently on Dial-Up; it's takes me around 36 hours for a 200 mb file, or an entire week for 1 gig.  I've heard rumors the Toolset is going to be fairly large but even if it's tiny I can't see it being less than 200 MB.  The time it takes to download itself doesn't really bother me, but I'm concerned it may lead to me not being able to download it at all.

Being on Dial-Up, my provider likes to automatically disconnect after 8 hours, and if a strong wind happens to blow or the power goes out (happens quite a bit here) I can be disconnected unpredictably.  I notice that to download the Toolset registration is required, which makes me think Bioware is going to control it's release.. I.e. (no fileplanet download, or official bit-torrent).  Downloading with Firefox has been notoriously buggy for me.. It does support download resumption, but if it happens to be disconnected randomly instead of paused it's notoriously buggy and often corrupts the file (says it's down when in fact it's not).  So far the only reliable method of downloading for me has been via Bit-Torrent or a Download Manager.  There are a few other download accelerators on the market that seem to have better resumption ability, but they tend to inundate me with adware or cost money and even they still fail when the downloads are assigned to dynamic addresses that expire after a period of time to prevent external linking and the like.

My question/plee is anyone aware of a workaround for this problem or know if Bioware will be providing a Download Manager or releasing the toolset to a service that has one such as (fileplanet) or offering a bit-torrent download?  Please help, I'm very concerned about this as I had just assumed Fileplanet would have a copy.

I use Download Accelerator Plus (DAP) and haven't had problems using it. The download manager itself has small ads within it (mostly promoting their own products) but none that force open your browser and such, and no spyware that I've detected, so they don't really hinder performance or ease of use.

As far as downloads not resuming due to the link being dynamic, I don't know that any download manager will resume them after the specified period is over, as that is less to do with the download manager itself and more to do with the server and how linking is handled.  Then again, my area is less in internet/networking and more in Software/Hardware troubleshooting.

I recommend the aforementioned program just in case, and if it doesn't download the toolset within the period, all I can suggest is asking a neighbor, or waiting to see if a normal link is provided, thereby allowing your accelerator/s to work fine.

I hope this info may have assisted you.
