Will there be any in game items given for playing the Mass Effect 3 demo?

We will have more details on this on February 7th.

Did this ever get updated? (not interested in KOA unlocks, I mean ME3 in game items).

I'm curious if the N7 rank will reset when the game comes out or if that will carry over to the full game. Could care less either way as I will be playing it but I'm sure those that put in the time, and effort, to reach the max level, whatever that is, will want to keep it.

Also interesting to see that they have essentially brought back the old upgrades menu and have seemlessly merged ME and ME2 together into what looks like to be the best game ever. the only downfall I can think of is ME3 has to be limited to the 360 and PS3 graphics :(

Have you seen the 360 graphics? They are stunning. The opening scenes of the demo on my XBOX were breathtaking. I really dont think you need better graphics than that, and the graphics will still be better on the PC.

4.
It`s out on the 9th.
So 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th. 4 days, since it ends during the 4th and you can`t either buy the game at you store before it opens or you have to wait until the mailman/woman delivers the package :P
I have to wait until 10 am before I can get into GameStop to buy my Collector`s Edition(xD).

Thats true yes, however if you have baught a digital version (PC) of ME3 on origin, in some regions the game will be unlocked on the 8th 1 day before official release for Physical Retail Editions.

So some regions does get the game released in there country a few days before the 9th. (9th which is worldwide mostly, including UK)

Mass Effect 3 Demos Analysed
Published 16/02/2012
PS3 suffers in frame-rate comparisons.

The concluding chapter of the Mass Effect trilogy is remarkable in that it's the first to be released simultaneously on all major HD platforms, with BioWare releasing Xbox 360, PS3 and PC demos earlier this week. Feedback we received from readers suggested that the PS3 build fails to match its Xbox 360 sibling, exhibiting major frame-rate issues - something we decided to put to the test.

Methodology in testing this sort of thing is fairly straightforward. In the absence of actual benchmarking tools for console games, we produce two separate tests to measure performance. In the first, we simply capture the exact same footage from each version. Mass Effect games are packed with engine-driven cut-scenes which gives us plenty of material to choose from: we decided to opt for the opening cinematic as it appears to pose various challenges for both Xbox 360 and PS3 engines.

General performance characteristics for Mass Effect 3 appear to be par for the course in comparison to its predecessors. Both versions appear to be operating with a 30FPS cap, and v-sync is engaged. The game is double-buffered, meaning that it is drawing the next frame behind the scenes while the current one is being displayed, with the framebuffer flipped on the screen refresh. The good news is that there's no tearing (well, not on PS3 any way - the 360 is sometimes a bit late with its update, resulting in an unnoticeable tear at the very top of the screen), but the bad news is that if a frame runs over budget, the game stalls until the next refresh.

This manifests in the 360 analysis as a smooth 30FPS frame-rate suddenly dipping for prolonged periods to a more jerky 20FPS. Now, with the PlayStation 3 game what we're seeing is more scenes operating over budget, resulting in longer, more sustained drops to the lower frame-rate. More than that, we also seem to be seeing that the PS3 version sometimes misses the 20FPS refresh, making the stall even more pronounced, resulting in some drops down to 15FPS - not good at all.

So how does this translate into the gameplay? Let's run some more analysis across the run of play from both levels featured in the demo.

"So is this unpolished, early code? In the most cases, playable samplers are entirely representative of the final product, but BioWare does have some form in releasing unfinished demo code on PS3 in particular."
Unable to play this video? Try this alternate link

It's pretty much the same story: frame-rate dips on both platforms (fairly consistent with Mass Effect 2, on 360 at least), but it's clearly the PlayStation 3 demo that is operating at a lower level of performance. It's something of a shame because in most other respects, the demo suggests that there's not very much to tell these two versions apart otherwise: both utilise a stunning new lighting system, and appear to feature FXAA anti-aliasing, which really suits the artwork.

However, the issues on PS3 do extend beyond the frame-rate; there's just a general sense that the code is somewhat unfinished. On scene changes, sometimes characters or textures noticeably pop-in - something we don't see on Xbox 360. And there's the odd bug too - check out this shot comparison and look at the background. All appears to be well on the Microsoft platform, but something bizarre is happening on PS3 - a shader bug or texture compression issue, perhaps.

So is this unpolished, early code? Can we expect changes in the final game? In the vast majority of cases, playable samplers are entirely representative of the final product, but BioWare does have form in releasing unfinished code for its demos, on PS3 in particular. The Mass Effect 2 PS3 demo ran with v-sync disabled, improving overall frame-rate at the expense of image consistency - this was adjusted in the final version of the game. Similarly, the PS3 version of the Dragon Age 2 demo also saw some changes in its transition to final code.

Perhaps lending further credence to this theory is that the content we're seeing here isn't new: the introduction mission has been used in plenty of press material, while the second mission will be familiar to those who witnessed the Kinect voice command demonstration at Microsoft's E3 press conference. So hopefully we will see improvements to the final game - and of course, we'll be running a full Face-Off as soon as we can. Source EUROGAMER .COM. http://www.eurogamer...-demos-analysed

Yes, it would be nice if Bioware would update this. It'd be nice to get some nice free stuff from playing the demo to use in the full retail game.

I suppose there is still time to add that in.  But so far it's looking like a no.  But on the same note, someone from BioWare stated they knew and it was best all that info was released at one time.

So yeah, we would still like to know what the details are.

'Please note that NVIDIA GeForce 9300, 8500, 8400, and 8300 are below minimum system requirements'. strange because i have nvidia 8400 and can run the demo at max perfectly. probably because most game developers are unaware of the the newer version of that graphics card that has more video ram. i can also run most new games at max settings perfectly

Watch it, it`s about the bad animations, which there is alot of.

Those small men that is running bellow Anderson and Shepard, I`ve seen them in games that I played 10 years ago, C&C Red Alert has them, and that game is over 10 years old.

At least fix the animation on Anderson`s running.

@Bioware:
We all know you can make better animations, you have EA`s support, which means you have alot of cash.

@EA:
STOP teling your devs to save money on important stuff. Movement animation is important.
I for one don`t want to be sitting here laughing when running away from aliens.

I have to agree, so far I'd have to say that it's a no that there'll be anything free from playing either the SP or MP demo. And as you said, there is still time to do something for us and I hope that Bioware does do something for us.

Despite how badly I want the game, I am not buying a game if it requires
me to download origin, I refuse to deal with origin because of how it
has the right to search everything on my computer if I want to download
it.  It may not be a virus, but I refuse to have dealing for anything
that scans all of my computer.

I don't even like using steam, I
would prefer if they gave us the option to just download the game on my
computer without using any digital download product.  Keeping up with my
Steam account, and while still using my battle.net account for my
blizzard games is enough, I would put up with origin if it didnt search
my computer.

Origin disgusts me, and Im fine if you give ME3
perks in game for using it, but im not putting up with being forced to
use it to play the game.  And I wont buy the game on consoles when I
played the last two on PC, heck if games from Bioware for the PC start
to become a regular requirement for origin, I may just not buy Bioware
games at all.

EA and Bioware either
a.Fix origin
b.Get rid of i

Until you do either of the above (preferrably B), I refuse to buy any game from EA/Bioware that requires origin.

It is two weeks till the release of the actual game. I know it was mentioned that there were some difficulties, but I think it is time to tell us.

What are the details of the information that we were suppose to hear on Feb. 7th? We were told we would find out two weeks ago. Even if the difficulties aren't sorted yet, BioWare, you could go ahead and tell us. We would like to know.

Reason number 4,746,861 that I play games like this on console and not PC.  I have a PC now that could run this game 2-3 times over on maxed settings (probably but obvious rhetoric here lol) but instead, I choose to go with the console version simply because of similar issues that you appear to have.  I have a freakin awesome gaming rig now but you know what? I STILL prefer console versions of games like this because most of the time, there are little to no issues like this one involved.  Dont get me wrong, I agree with your point completely.  EA requiring you to have Origin is not only nonsense, but out right BS.  I have the same mentality that you do that I dont download anything that can scan my computer for any reason.  They could show me definitive proof that it is safe and secure to download it, and I still wouldnt.

I just hope this kind of tread doesnt carry over to consoles because I honestly like 99% of the products that BioWare comes out with.  I'd hate to have to treat them like I do Square/Enix now and just simply stop buying their products.  It'd do squat to their profits, I know, but at least I'd feel more "secure" about it.  ^_^

I finally played the demo even though I knew I shouldn't. Right now it seems like I'm in the minority opinion here. I'm really not happy with the gameplay. I didn't think it was nearly as fun in combat as ME2. The weapons didn't feel right. Also, unlike a lot of people who have posted, I didn't like the graphics. What is up with the characters' eyes, anyway? I miss the less-creepy eyes and the clean textures from the first two games. To be fair, though, I don't miss the textures popping in late, and the lighting in the character customization screen appears to have been really bright. Maybe the eyes won't look so strange in the real game, but I think it's odd that the only dark eyes I could find were actually blue.

Of course, when I play a demo I tend to be a lot more judgmental than when I play the game in context. Hopefully I'll change my mind. I'm not touching the multiplayer until I have the full game, though, so I have the real thing to go by.
