Well at least you have the decency to admit your stirring the pot. Why am I replying? Well I thought initially you were just ignorant to what was being said so at least tried to give a couple of decent responces to it. Ok maybe I was naive to prolong talking to you and reacting, but trying to give a responce is just naive nothing more. I hoped that you would be reasonable and for some reason believed you possible could listen. But I was totally wrong. Atagonising fans knowingly and willingly is a much lower level.
My first 2 of 3 posts in this topic were in fact serious, until you barked in and started replying to me. You actually made me laugh and so I thought I'd have a little fun with you (by trolling you). After all, someone needs to push you off your high horse.
But honestly, what I said in the beginning (one of my very few serious posts) still stands firm. Other games with the possibility to play a female character don't have trailers specifically targeted at the female counterpart of the protagonist. And do you hear anyone complaining about it? Nope.
So than why are the Mass Effect fans so rabid about it?
And worse, why do some women always act as if they're discriminated against? Just because their precious femShep doesn't get as much attention as they think she deserves, it somehow means femShep and/or female gamers are discriminated against? It's rather obnoxious to say the least.
And this post is not a troll post. I'm super serious in this post now.

Why do women act like they're being discriminated against? The reasons are so many, though what is funny is that women have more freedom in Western society than men do, far more freedom. Women suffer from an enormous sense of entitlement and that is the short answer to the question. They believe that being vaginally endowed credits them with some special privilege and indeed it does inasmuch as they are the limiting factor in reproduction but to them it follows that everything is owed to them.

Easy explanation. Mass Effect is one of the more popular AAA titles that actually allows you to choose a gender. Commander Shepard is becoming a iconic figure and having both Male and Female Shepard marketable would easily put Female Shepard on equal footing with Male Shepard in attention and importance.
It would make Female Shepard a iconic female character on par with someone like Lara croft.
I can understand that but if I was Bioware I wouldn't really be doing this for the fans or to make Fem shep personally iconic. I would do it to actually push the image that Commander Shepard is iconic. Not just male shep but the character Commander Shepard and that you can be who you want to be in the game.

Also its not necessarily discrimination in the evil "WOMEN ARE ARE SEX OBJECTS!!!" but more in that more males play video games than female and its easier to market a male character to get more sales. Not really horrible discirimination but more I guess market discrimination.
Edit: Not sure if discrimination is the right word for it.

Well, since Commander Shepard is someone else for everyone, you can't really say that Commander Shepard (in general) is an iconic character. That's not really true.
The iconic character, is the male Commander Shepard; Sheploo. He was originally the face and avatar of Mass Effect. Similar to how this guy is the iconic character of Skyrim:

That guy above is the iconic and famous dragonborn of Skyrim. Even though that guy above is not my dragonborn. I play a female Imperial thief, not a male Nord warrior. But do you hear me raging that my female Imperial Dragonborn doesn't get as much marketing attention as the male Nord Dragonborn? Nope.
When BioWare started Mass Effect, they had no idea femShep would become so popular among the fans. Because she became such a fan-favorite, BioWare decided to give femShep a little extra attention in ME3. But some people are still complaining. <_<

Well sorry, but I can't help it that female-gamers are in the minority and that female-gamers who actually play shooters and action-RPGs are even more of a rarity.
The fact of the matter is, that at least 90% of the world-wide self-proclaimed gamers are male. It only makes sense that some companies cater more to the male-gamers than the female-gamers. But I don't think BioWare does that. BioWare isn't catering to one gender specific.
Having a male protagonist and/or not showing the female counterpart as much as the male version, does not automatically mean that BioWare is catering to the male-gamers and/or discriminating against the female-gamers.

Hey, now you're making reasonable posts!
I actually agree with you here; Male gamers are the majority, therefore companies try to sell to them. If you analyze any commercial ever made, you can clearly see they're targeting a select demographic to sell their product (You see mothers in the kitchen cooking with the kids in almost all paper towel commercials, beer commercials almost always include a tall, skinny blonde with large...assets, etc). It's only natural that BW would follow this trend and appeal to the male gamers.
If Bioware hadn't promised a FemShep trailer, I don't think there'd be an issue. It's just that they did promise one, and they're aiming to make FemShep equal to MaleShep (not that they're not equal in the games, just as far as advertising goes). While the FemShep trailer might draw in a few new fans, I doubt it would do anything groundbreaking aside from pleasing the fans. Which, hey, I like "fanservice"

That was a hypothetical situation if I was in control of Bioware's marketing team. I would present both male and female shepard to show that Commander Shepard can be who ever you want and you have to choose. Personally I'm not bother by it either way but if I was in charge I would market both female shep and male shep. Probably not equally since again using a marketing a male character more is better since the gaming market is mostly male.
Skryim isn't the best example. Bethesda games in general isn't the best example but like I said before in another post the only reason why they made male shep marketable is because most gamers are male.
You just ignored the reasoning I gave for why fans want a trailer. Again the ME series is becoming a very popular series and fans want female shepard to also be presented as iconic as Male Shepard to match Samus and Lara Croft. Now why they are more rabid than usual is pretty obvious.
1. This is BSN
2. Unlike Skyrim ME games usually have more actual story and character choices in game. Its arguably much better at Illusion of choice than Skyrim is although I would say Skyrim forces people to basically make fanfiction in their head for their character lol.
This illusion of choice makes picking Female Shepard for your character to be big enough to warrant being marketed. In a way I can agree with that.
3. Females would also like more iconic female gaming characters.

That would be because female's actually were represented by bethesda. While not in the trailers (which there was only one or two "real" trailers for skyrim, rest gameplay by journalists) bethesda released multiple images, and one big wallpaper of female dohvakin.
Of course the demographic for skyrim seems to be largely males but I have no data to support my claim there.
