Bioware has pulled off sexy but tough women before, just look at Morrigan, she doesn't look like she's just turned 19, or even Miranda. I just think it's wierd that fshep looks younger than her and Ashley and the rest of the female cast. I'm sure plenty of people will still be romancing Ashley and Miranda and won't be turned off since they look like they're in their late twenties instead of teens.

Well there were six remember.  Some of them look much older and still look great.

Still the fact remains that the younger more attractive looking femshep won the contest rather then the maturer looking ones.  Its what the majority wanted and theres no way round that.   Your complaining that she looks too young,  but thats what people voted for and wanted in her.

The Shepard you create in game is your solution.  I know iconic femshep isnt representative of my femshep.  In fact her appearance to me isnt that relavent.  She a strong character and can do incredable things regardless.

Actually they all look pretty young. The only one that doesn't look like the others is the black shepard and her hairstyle is a turn off for me since I seriously doubt a female shep in the military would wear it but then again I could accept it if it was picked.

The youngest looking shepard was the one with the longest hair.

I disagree, but its individual perspective I guess.

However it still doesnt change the point of what the majority of people wanted in iconic femshep.

We got mostly young looking Shepards with some differentiation. It isn't our fault that Bioware gave us Shepard's that all look young. I just wanted my female shepard with a ponytail. Then I saw the ginger shepard and thought "I'm okay with this."

They all seem the same age. I wish I was here for that competition, I've seen a lot of complaints, not on here but other places about how young she looks. They also all look pretty much just the same, the choices were just between different hairstyle and skin colour. Oh well, I know when Bioware do finally create her, they'll be using a lot more texture and realistic skin for 3d modelling, like with every other characters, so she'll probaly won't have the airbrush look.

I hope I don't come off mean by saying this, because that isn't my intention at all. You talking about Shepard looking young is somewhat silly and I'm not understanding the deal.

Majority of women when they get older, do their best to look younger. Meanwhile yoing girls/teenagers do everything they can to look "older".

Beyond that it's simply your opinion and perspective on how you gauge them to be young. I'm 27 years old, most people think I'm 22 or 23. Heck I've seen people who are 50 something years old and they don't look like it at all.

You have "your shepard" it's called the one you created.

Yeah I agree. Women in my family age well. My sister is 28 and is often confused for 22 and I'm 21 and often confused for 17 o.o Maybe FemShep just ages well.

I didn't say that there was anything wrong with Shepard looking young. Hell in multiple threads ever since that whole Fem shep contest I was arguing why it isn't a bad thing.

Actually, no. A fair number of people were specifically pissed after the hair color contest came out because they voted for the hair color they liked but actually preferred another face and didn't know there would be a second contest.

Scientifically/statistically, we cannot break this down to mean one single thing. Some people voted for that face for the shape of the features. Some for the coloring. Some for the hairstyle. Others for the expression on her face. A combination of the above happened in a lot of cases, no doubt. Overall, that one was found to be the most appealing, but we can't know exactly how it all breaks down because that was not researched.

It remains to be seen what Bioware will do with the base set of features and the hairstyle/color chosen. I am hoping that she will be a standard FemShep/Shepard in that regard and will look no older or younger than ManShep in the actual game/trailer.

Eshaye wrote...

Unfortunately the poster girls we were
presented with do not have much grit to them. Not that I should talk
much as my own Femshep is one of those young looking ones, I do like
that even she has mouth lines and crinkly lines around her eyes when her
face emotes.

Indeed. I didn't make my FemShep with age in mind, but when I see her in motion I appreciate that she looks like a mature adult of roughly the same age as ManShep. I like those little smile lines. I hope that comes across for our default when we see her in action, too. I did like that the new default has a mean "don't screw with me if you like having a spleen" look on her face.

I'm just a year younger than you and I get the same kind of comments, so yeah--the attitude is most important to tell you how old someone is. I'd just prefer to look at FemShep and think she's likely the same age as ManShep; she's almost certainly had a lot more stress in her life than either you or I! Plus, I like to think maturity can be attractive in its own right. I guess what I'm dancing around here--it's more important how she acts than how she looks, though looks can certainly help.

I don't even mind if FemShep is a bit of a sex symbol, but it should always be in the "this is a woman who could kick your ass, drink you under the table, and rock your world all in the same day" sort of way. Meaning, no stupid impractical outfits or heels because she doesn't need them to look hot. She's hot precisely *because* she's a badass and she has no time for bull. She doesn't exist to look cute, she exists to annihilate the living f*** out of everything that poses a threat to the galaxy.

I feel like if ManShep doesn't get his sensitive moments, it cheapens the character of Shepard a bit in my mind. So, too, would it be cheapened if FemShep doesn't come across as a believable BAMF.

And
to end, want to see the trailer already!! I'd thought it would be out by
now. It'd be nice to give it some time to make femshep known to the
world. Hopefully it doesn't turn to be the trailer no one knows about
because it came out a second before launch...

I know, right? I'm champing at the bit here. Really want that trailer.

Shepard died when they were 29 and their body probably didn't age over the entire two years they were dead.

At some point in time, the people who really love to insist that Shepard "didn't age" during the two years between ME1 and ME2 are going to have to accept the fact that Shepard *will* at some stage actually turn 30. They might actually have to admit that by the time of ME3, Shepard may actually be *post* 30 in spite of the two year reprieve.

And just because I want to hammer it home again, in the Mass Effect series, you will be playing the role of Commander Shepard, who is not 18. Nor mid-twenties. She is, in fact, 30.

Thiiiiiiiiiirrrrrrty.

Actually yes it is.  A fair few people were annoyed at the second contest.  I was one of them I urged Bioware not to do it and spearheaded the thread against it.
http://social.biowar...3/index/8114669

However only a few dozen or couple of hundred posters are on BSN and they tended to keep pressing the issue.   This contest had tens of thousands of votes and many just voted and that was it.   A few people asking for other things is the minority and the majority still went for what they wanted in iconic femshep.   Yes they may have been voting on particular aspects like, hair, colour, looks, sex appeal ect.  The second vote narrowed down margins even further.

Anyway Im not really going to debate it further.  The contest is long since over and frankly I think its irrelevant anyway.  The purpose was always to get femshep more recognition and get her on the box regardless of looks. We achieved that.   A new look femshep was never going to please everyone, but Bioware did their best to take in what the majority of gamers wanted.   Iconic femshep is just one femshep of tens of thousands created.  I think debating her looks is frankly trivial issue.  Someone will always be unhappy.

I in fact believe Shepard is 1 year old, by the time ME3 starts.

So, those that mean 8 people on Normandy SR2 are pedophiles?

Wait, what?

I'm not talking about legally - legally Shepard's probably actually closer to 32 - but Shepard's body stopped aging until Cerberus brought it back to life, so if anything, Shepard's probably physcially thirty by the time ME3 takes place.

This is true.

The problem is that compared to Male Shepard (who is supposed to be the exact same age as him) - she looks about 10 years younger than he is.

No, seriously. In this day and age, how can someone equate age to physicality, let alone the future seen by Shepard's time?

What.

It means that the body was alive and aging for approximately thirty earth years. When Shepard died in ME2 their body stopped aging, and was then frozen cryogenically.

I have no clue what you're even trying to say.

You tell me what your point was and I will tell you what my point was.

Not just that you were saying "Shepard's body aged physically for 30 years," but why you even thought to mention it. Are we talking about the Iconic Shepard and whether she looks 30 years old? 'Cause if you're not, then we're not having the same conversation here.
