personally i have always thought Sheploo looks older that the 29 to 31 years of age he is surposed to be! yes femshep looks younger than 30 in the concept art we have seen so far but so do alot of real people (and alot of them look older than they are) I am reserving judgment untill I see her in game/trailer

I have no clue what you're even trying to say.

You tell me what your point was and I will tell you what my point was.

Not just that you were saying "Shepard's body aged physically for 30 years," but why you even thought to mention it. Are we talking about the Iconic Shepard and whether she looks 30 years old? 'Cause if you're not, then we're not having the same conversation here.

I'm talking about the age of Shepard in general, not their appearance.

While I commend you for admitting that Shepard is 30, you had to bring up the whole "two year gap" as if it creates some sort of ambiguity in this matter. It really doesn't. Not only does it not change the actual birthdate of the character, but genetic modification seems to be common place enough that who cares that the aging process stopped for two freaking years. Everything stopped for two freaking years because the body was technically deeeead. As in cells cease functioning. That stop in the aging process? That's the same kind of stop Shepard would have experienced had it happened when she was 75 years old, okay? Or perhaps experienced a bad night at Bert's Chili place six month's down the line and Dr. Chakwas couldn't get the antidote to her in time.

So that argument, that always annoyed me because it seems people will jump through hoops to avoid acknowleding that they are playing a character that was, shall we say, not fresh. They are not playing fresh noob meeting their destiny straight out of the academy. They aren't even playing a slightly less fresh but still spry twenty something year old. Shepard is an experienced soldier.

And I could be annoyed that the "iconic" female version doesn't look nearly as gruff around the edges as her male counterpart, but to be honest, I think they actually gone overboard aging male Shepard and he looks like a seasoned commander of decades of military campaigns. And honestly, 30 is a bit of an ambiguous looking age anyway where someone could look like they were in college or beaten down by life depending on how those genes or crystal meth were treating ya'. Not that I'm implying the male Shepard had faulty genes...

30 isn't even remotely old, anyway.

Especially in ME universe.

Yeah 30 is pretty much what we'd consider around 20 now.

That said I have my custom Shep looking as young as I could get him to look. If I could he'd look like he was 21. Alas ME CC is utter balls.

Because a female protagonist in a shooter who looks like her body could actually exist without a combination of anorexia, steroids, and extreme plastic surgery and is fairly convincing that she might even be capable of the things she's able to do is insanely, insanely rare?

Guys sometimes take for granted that they have a protagonist of their gender around to remind them of what a man is capable of. Well, FemShep reminds us what a woman is capable of. That happens pretty rarely, that a female protagonist is seen as a military hero and not an object built to provoke sexual fantasies in heterosexual males.

No rancor. It is what it is. This is just why. Because she's different from the other 99% of game protagonists out there.

It's like this:

Yo jimmy would you like a nice sweet lollipop?
Oh boy mister I sure would!
Well Jimmy just be a good boy and wait a bit and you'll get one.
**waits a bit**
Hey mister I've been good, where's my lollipop?

You promise something, it's kind of nice if you deliver. Plus those of us who love femshep are a little tired of maleshep getting all the attention. And maleshep is not representative of the Shep that we play. Iconic femshep is closer to that.

Mass effect is one of the few rare series that allows us females to have a strong female main protagonist, as Wynne said. Despite what many males think, there are quite a few of us female gamers and it's very rare to find a game with a strong female character. Mass effect has that for us. We'd just like to occasionally SEE that strong character. Instead of her being shoved to the back.

Sheploo is 43 years old in real-life. He was 37 when they created Mass Effect.

So I can understand when people say Sheploo looks older than 29 or 31 years old (even though I do think Mark Vanderloo looks really young for his age).

Well I'm not a female gamer but I do understand their points although one that I don't think is mentioned yet is that since the ME series has gotten so big now the push for having Female Shepard in the marketing would be increased. ME series isn't the only series in which you can pick either a male or female character but it is one of the bigger series and the protagonist of this series is always marketed.

Marketing the female Shep would easily show that Bioware care for the female gamers (even though they already do) and it can present another iconic female game character that isn't necessarily half naked. I'm not saying half naked female protagonists can't be awesome. I love Isabella due to her personality and her views on most of the issues in Dragon Age. I like Lara Croft since she is simply badass.

It's 2160-something. Why should Humans still look frail and weak at all when old? Plus, Shepard was augmented by Cerberus in ME2 with cybernetics and what not.

I am patiently awaiting the trailer. There really isn't much for trailers out there right now for ME3 with less than two months to release. I'm sure they are cooking up something epic for the femShep trailer as well as a bunch of Mass Effect trailers.

When the game comes out and if then there is no trailer, that's when I'll get upset with the marketing team.

I was actually talking about the real human who is Shepard's face: Mark Vanderloo. He is 43 years old, though he looks much younger.

Shepard in-game is 31 years old.

Do people forget, in the game humans can live up till 150, so it's alright if Shep looks young for 30

Yeah, this is true.

Shepard looks fine.  Even the custom female Shepards who look like a 19 years old teenagers are fine.

The only person who kinda upsets me is Kahlee Sanders. I know we haven't seen her yet, but I can already tell she's a total Mary Sue. To make it worse, she's almost 50 years old (she's around Captain Anderson's age) yet she still looks like a 30 years old woman according to the books. Kahlee, being nearly 50 years old, even has a 23 years old boyfriend in one of the books.
