I just got mine and it was #74. Anyways this is my first lithograph purchase and I can't have it framed yet so I was wondering about storing these things. I read that keeping it in the plastic isn't good and to get either an acid free tube or an acid free sleeve to keep them in. Does anyone know if Michael's would have acid free tubes or acid free sleeves big enough to fit this oversized litho?

Not sure about tubes or sleeves, but I pick up cheap frames from their regular sales (like $10-12), load my extras into them, and keep them in a dark closet. Not fancy, but I suspect it's keeping them pretty safe.

I never even thought about doing that. I'll have to look into that though because I have room in my closet, thanks for the tip.

I wouldn't store these in cheap frames. There are too many issues with acidic backs, improper support, rivets leaving marks on the prints, and on and on.

For the 18x24 typical litho size prints, I suggest picking up one of these: http://www.amazon.co...29868979&sr=8-1

Plus, you can actually look at them when you like.

Yeah that's the main thing I'm worried about is acidic backs and such ruining the lithograph. Thanks for the info and the link.

While we are on the topic of storage, would it be good if i just put this lithograph behind my team one in the frame? I don't have any real spot to store this one and my frame has an acid free backing. Would there be a real issue if they are touching?

your frame will have to be much bigger. the frames are built for one litho, not two. i seriously suggest you buy the case from the link that sabiansix provided, because i will. its better than storing them in thier original cardboard packaging or atleast i think it is? is it?

I understand that, but the oversized one won't fit in that.

i keep mine in the cardboard tube in a cold place that is dry and away from direct sunlight and water. it could be as good as keeping it in that portfolio, but i don't know.

SR-2 Prototype and Dead Reaper are my lowest at #11.   No single figures for me.

My Alice ones probably would have been quite low except they reserved the first 50 into that massive buy eleven bundle.  :P

I'm still a bit peeved over the fact they put the first 300 in double packs. I didn't have any interest in having Dead Reaper, so I ordered Proto SR-2 and got #302...which meant the second one out of the singles. Argh.

My litho went to the wrong address (to my parents who live in Thornton, not 20 minutes from Treehouse in Commerce City, so I had no time to get it recalled and re-shipped...Woe was me when I had to explain to them that yes, I'm spending more money on lithos. XD), but I'm getting it shipped to the right address, so hopefully I'll have it soon. Twice the opportunity for it to get munched...yay...

I'm still trying to figure out how my order got defaulted to my billing address rather than the default shipping address, but I took care of it by just removing all shipping addresses save for the address I actually live at. Hopefully it won't happen again.

I was forced to get 2 DAY domestic shipping since I bought another litho and hoodie with the Earth Alliance litho. It's been 6 days since the order was placed and many people have gotten their orders already. What's the deal?

I have over 15 lithographs in original plastic and I haven´t had any problems of acid or damage, and I have some more than a year.

My package just arrived and I am horrified at what I'm seeing. I don't have time to open the package right now, but I can tell you that the poster tube is slightly crushed and it arrived without one end cap. Sigh. I hope nothing's damaged, but I'm already expecting the worst.

Mine arrived in similar fashion. Apparently they've reverted to the old craptastic way of packaging them.

You likely won't be able to get it back into that tube once you remove it, unless you're brave enough to try rolling it tighter than I felt comfortable doing. I ended up rolling it loosely and taping the trailing edge of the plastic sleece  to the back of the sleeve, then placed it into a larger cardboard box to protect it until I can get it framed.

The other probem with cheap frames is that they often do not have a matte, which helps keep the artwork from touching the 'window' of the frame. You don't ever want the art to touch this if it can be avoided, because it's too easy for ambient moisture to form between the plastic and the print, which will damage/ruin it.

They're generally safe in the original sleeve, especially if you've never taken them out, and you keep them in a cool, dry place. I have several I've not been able to frame yet, some over a year now, still in their original sleeves, and none have suffered for it.

Barring the oversized lithos, a portfolio is also a good way to store them. The one linked earlier looks to be a good one, and I'm sure there are others available that would handle the oversized ones as well. It's just a matter of deciding whether the cost is worth it to you.

There are also quite a few portfolios that are more like overszed rigid bags with a frame, which may be a good option. You see quite a few people using these when transporting photographic art. They sort of resemble very thin briefcases, just sized larger to hold the prints. This may also be an option that would help you.

Last time I was in JoAnne's, out near Tacoma, they had several different ones back bear the custom framing shop. I imagine Micheale's may also have some, and some time researching them via Google will definitely net you a larger selection, and may even find some better prices.

Finally got mine, number 84. Did alright in the tubing, with one small ripple in the paint that I'm not too concerned about, but I really do think the tubes should have been bigger. With plastic and cardboard besides the litho, it feels like it's too tight of a role. Not to mention that it's kind of a pain to get it out of the tube. Especially considering shipping costs went up again, and shipping service went down (now apparently UPS's version of DumbPost). I was hoping it would go to improved packaging, but a bigger tube is the biggest part of that.

I would NOT leave this touching the shipping cardboard/plastic. The cardboard at least is acidic and while your litho might last a year without any noticable damage, you are damatically shortening it's lifespan. Later on, it'll likely turn a lovely shade of yellow. I have a large archival box (can try to dig up a link later, but it escapes me at the moment) for everything but the oversized lithos, and the oversized ones are wrapped in acid free paper in a box out of sunlight/moisture.

Anybody else order two lithos and only receive one? Apparently Treehouse had a mixup with several of their orders.

Finally found it. I got mine from ArchivalUSA, specifically the largest they sell (22x30). They're not cheap (about the price of a litho), but you only need one, and if you're buying the lithos, you should be preserving them too. Make sure you get acid free tissue paper to put between the lithographs too! Unfortunately they don't make ones big enough to fit the oversized lithos, but there's only 3 of those too.

As an aside, if anyone does know of a place that does make boxes big enough to hold the oversized lithos, please let me know. I'd like to find a safer way to store them if possible.

So aside from the two crushed tubes, anyone else have issues with the tube packaging? This is indeed a very big print, and flat packing it may be a bit more prone to damage. Just wondering if it being rolled up has resulted in any rippling/spider web effect on the paper once unrolled. Cheers.
