I want to prevent my characters from auto-respawning. I made custom death scripts for them and it seems to work about 95% of the time but every once in a while when a character dies, it pops back up inexplicably. Is there a campaign setting that controls this, or is is completely script-driven?

I just checked my campaign settings and dying was set to false. Is this what controls auto respawn? Should I switch it to true?

Dying controls the bleeding system that slowly bleeds people from 0 to -10, otherwise they die without bleeding. Everything I know about the death system is in this blog post.
An additional note is that the cutscene conversations will bring party members back to life as well. So if you want to prevent that without modifying the include files and recompiling a bunch of scripts don't use cutscenes.
