Yeah, wish people would at least wait until he says something stupid before they label him. Though honestly, I won't use him probably in my first playthrough either. Because there are others I already have attachment to.

Not Jacob treatment, Jack treatment.  Do you remember all that garbage talk a few years back?  "Omg what a slu+, shes so ugly, shes going through the airlock, I'm skipping her recruitment, I'll never want her loyalty, too much skin showing, etc."

Jack is pretty cool and funny in ME2 if you follow her character throughout the entire game.  Idiots judge books by their covers.  Go ahead and let them.

Jack is actually my fav character of the new crew in ME2. I could do without Miranda, Jakob, Samara and Thane though. Not that I hated them, but aside from their LM I never actually used them.

jack is one of my favorite characters too.  I like how she changes as you go through her dialogues and stuff... but still keeps a hardness to her attitude even as she does.  Very different from the typical "hard shelled wounded dove" stereotype she seems to have at first tht melts as soon as you crack her tough outter layer.  Even when you get her to open up a bit she's still got a ton of attitude.

i really would love a alternate version of jack without the tats and bald head.

im not asking for a miranda or ash look but i would love for it to happen expecially with how you basicly help her emotionaly

I don't hate him but I do see him as being a superfluous and generic character. Mass Effect already had a rich and colorful cast, I don't see why Vega is even needed.

I don't hate meathead. I just know that with the reduced squad, it takes up a spot better suited for already established characters.

I actually kinda like him (and he's practically a necessity for new players, since having Shepard asking about everything around him in 3 would be moronic), but this is pretty much the anti-Vega position in a nutshell. There's a bunch of squadmates from 1 and 2 that aren't going to make the "semi-mostly-permanent" squadmate cut, yet we get this new human Alliance soldier to play The Watson. Personally, I'm hoping that more experienced players will have the chance to swap him out at some point in the game (preferably for the ME2 LI for Shepards), but Vega himself might have an interesting story arc. I remember the Great Grunt Fiasco -- look how that turned out.Posted Image

This shouldn't turn into a Jack appreciation pyramid, but I actually liked her because of Tabitha (think that's her name). The girl you help if you start out as colonist war hero. Jack reminded me of her. I play femShep though so I never really saw how it goes with Jack LI. She ended up telling femShep to ****** off at the end but oh well. Nobody is perfect.

They added him to help new players but the direction of Mass Effect 3 is for the shooter fans. There is also a shooter mode so the shooter fans will choose that and will not talk to him. He is practically pointless.

I just don't get why we get so many squadmembers in ME2 and even 2 DLC because the core were not enough for some reason and then we go back to the ME1 squad plus 2 new. That's what's annoying. I wanted to keep Jack, Grunt, Legion, etc. And I don't see why I wouldn't because they had no purpose other than sticking with Shepard.

I am NOT saying it was smart decision for Bioware to make ME2 a suicide mission but All those characters can be dead depending on a player's save. Only Miranda was difficult go kill off but I found a way...

:D...

...and it only makes sense that any characters Bioware creates to fill potential voids in the staff be given as much opportunity for players to use them to justify all the expensive VA it takes to "create" them. If my Grunt is dead I do not want a simple Skyrim companion to take his place.

He seems to fill the Alliance Marine infantry role. Where are Ash was more of a garrison Marine, Vega seems he'll have more of a hookin' and a jabbin' background. I can't wait to use him. I mean in the comic he fought off Batarians with a TV he ripped off the wall for slandering Shepard.

I support the Garrus, Shepard, Vega bromance triangle!!!

The reason that everybody hates Vega is because he didn't win the genetic lottery. As others have already pointed out, "he looks like a dumb soldier." I believe that we are all familiar with the old expression of you can't judge a book by the cover. However, it is never the less an extremely difficult thing to do in Western society. We are bombarded with images of the rich, famous, and beautiful and told that if we are not identical to those shallow standards then we are losers, ergo Vega is a loser and is treated as such. With the death of integrity, character, and honor, all you have to go on is looks to judge the value of a human being.

If you are hot you get a pass and praise, if not "f" you and burn in hell. That dynamic has played itself out for so long in Western society that I give BioWare kudos for creating Vega as they did instead of as muscular beefcake that would have had the ladies swooning and drooling over him. But despite the criticism of Vega for his looks, I believe that the criticism reveals more about ourselves than we would wish to reveal in a public forum.

I believe that it was recently tweeted that your squadmates will be able to use any weapon that you can. So you'll get to have multiple Claymore-wielding squadmates, don't you worry.

I still want Grunt
and Zaeed would be awesome too. :bandit:

Hypocrites make me laugh. When you see an ugly fat chick, what are your initial impressions?

Like I said. Hypocrite. Next time, don't be so quick to display holier-than-thou proclamations.

He's about as useful (to me) as Jenkins was in ME1.  Let him spout the ME1 & 2 background for the peeps cheap enough not to buy the actual games and then die off gracefully as Shepard reaches the Normandy.

Actually, since you get to talk to them so much in ME2 you don't even need much dialogue. Just during missions actually. So you wouldn't lose much if they died. After all you can only use 2 squadmates at max anyway, which means that you'll miss out some dialogue in any playthrough. No matter if you chose the 2 because the others are dead or because you had to choose because you can only take 2. The only thing I can think of is that Bioware would have had to make it default that all survived the SM. Which they have to do anyway if they are imporant on missions as I think it is going to be. I'm curious anyway how the LIs will carry over. I fear that it will be short cut. Like the Liara LI before Shadowbroker.

There's no way to judge the character yet without having played the game. I tend to relate to your basic grunt infantryman, so I could see him being a very likeable character.

His hairstyle on the other hand definitely blows chunks.

I don't know why the artists would give him a hairstyle that is so widely associated with douchebags.  That's also a really weak beard that he's sporting.

Tbh their face looks nothing alike. Ok, they both have muscle, a t-shirt and tan skin. But that's where it ends.
