PC and X360 Collector's Edition are sold out at Gamestop. Looks like it will pass 1 million before release

So glad I pre-ordered and paid in full for my copy of the N7 Collector's Edition for PC at GameStop back when it was first announced.

Here's hoping for a midnight release!

From VGChartz

"Mass Effect 3 (X360) is up one spot to number one, as it adds 79,000 pre-orders, up from 56,000 last week, for a total of 536,000. The game is on track of passing one million pre-orders by launch. The game is eight weeks away from launch, March 6, 2012 in the USA."

And there's still around a month and a half before the game releases. Awesome.

i think we should all be really proud! for showing our faith in mass effect 3! so everyone give yourself a pat on the back hehe

I think he means it takes courage and faith to maintain a preorder in the face of all this scary news about multiplayer, Origin (admittedly not an issue for consoles) and DA 2.

Ten of them are mine because it is the only way to get all the content with these whack exclusive deals everywhere.

I kid, I kid. But two of them really are mine.

Me, too.  X360 version from both Gamestop and Origin for all SP DLC, one being a CE.

This is the ONLY game series I would ever buy 2 copies of, even if it is a cheap marketing tactic.

I assume the figures are similar for Europe too given that's just USA only pre-order amount. I think probably around 1.7 to 2 million would be more accurate (imho) for global pre-orders.

VG Chartz is generally inaccurate in the actual figures, but the curve at least looks to be increasing more sharply than ME2 which could certainly mean a higher number.

From all reviews I've read, and through my own limited experience with the current beta, it looks like Origin flat-out sucks. As it is, I'm unable to connect to the store due to a server error. I know EA has rejected the prospect of operating through Steam, but is it possible to pre-order the PC version of Mass Effect 3 via electronic download without using this service? Sorry if this is under the wrong forum, but I was hoping someone might know the answer to this. Thanks.

Origin isn't the only digital service selling it, however you will stil be required to use it for activation purposes.

What other digital services are there? I'm relatively new to PC gaming; Steam is really the only one I have experience with.

From what I've seen so far:

Gamersgate
Green Man Gaming
Direct2Drive (rebranded to gamefly)
Impulse (rebranded to gamestop downloads)

I don't think anyone has data for any platform.  I mean honestly,  we're talking about a source that is apparently known for retroactively adjusting their numbers to match NPD's much more reliable sales figures,  and refuses to identify it's sources,  while admiting they get "Small retail samples" and guess from there.  Which could easily mean they asked a Gamestop drone how many copies his store sold.

I'm not weighing in on any position on how ME3's preorders are doing,  I'm just saying that chart...it's likely bull.

VGChartz provides tools for data analysis and charting and regular written analysis of the data referencing major news in the video gaming industry. Sales figures on VGChartz are based on estimates extrapolated from small retail samples.[4] While offering some information about their methodology through their website,[5] VGChartz does not publish any sources on how they get their data. Some sites, including Gamasutra and Wired News, have questioned the reliability of the information presented by the site.[4][6] VGChartz has defended the credibility and reliability of its sales data,[7] often comparing their numbers with the ones published by NPD Group,[8] although some charts have been retroactively adjusted to better match NPD's monthly reports.[4][9]

Thats what I thought - honestly - the numbers seem too low to be a global xbox sales number for a game with this much hype.
