Video game message boards are such an amazing place...

If some guy on a street corner told everyone here that his secret source says the world will end tomorrow, every single one of you wouldn't believe him.

But some guy posts numbers on his website, and refuses to tell you where those numbers came from, and most of you think they're true.

Someone seriously needs to do a doctrate thesis on video game psychology, it's absolutely incredible how people will believe something if it has the word "Video game" in it, but they wouldn't fall for it on TV or on the street.

Eh...knowing the legen...wait for it...dary levels of Trolling that comes from BSN...I very much doubt anyone here SRSLY believes it. While it IS not beyond the realm of possibility, I would hope ppl aren't as thick as to just believe such a thing.

Glad to see the 360 shining....it never gets old and it never stops. Amazing work from both BioWare and Microsoft....especially with Kinect.

TOR was worth the 60 dollars imo...DA2 was NOT worth the 60 dollars. ME2 was worth the 60 dollars. Say what you want about it...but theres a reason ME2 was so damn popular.

The reason is because the game was catered to the neandrethals on consoles. Clearly an unsavory group if ever there was one. They are not fit to play games of refinement such as Alpha Protocol.  Now there was a game gents. It had everything we rpg purists want in a game. Buggy, boring and wholly unenjoyable combat? Righto! Horrendous voice acting? Of course! The simpletons of the general gaming populous clearly do not understand satire. The horrible voice acting was a statement on the necessity for silent protagonists.

In short, Mass Defect 2 (here I clearly demonstrate my wittiness) was catered to the cave dwelling amoebas. No, no. No popular games for me chaps! Give me rpgs made by long-defunct studios every time. Sales numbers are little more than popularity numbers which I do not care about (Disclaimer: This is in no way due to my own real life unpopularity).

So adieu Bioware! I shall surely never return to you (Disclaimer: Never is a strong word.). Good luck with the knuckle-draggers!

Sincerely,

Douchemcdouchebag

P.S. RIP Bioware 1996-2007

While this was TRULY hilarious...I gotta say...I actually kinda like Alpha Protocol lmao.

Hmm, not a particularly interesting graph. The correlation appears to be the same, I infer that since there's more fans of Mass Effect now, there are naturally more people who know about the 3rd game and will pre-order for it, so it's basically the ME2 trend pushed up and turned green. Though I am just eyeballing it.

ME2 at 4 weeks to go looked to be around 230,000 preorders for xbox.  ME3 with 4 weeks to go looks to be about 670,000 preorders.  That's almost a 300% increase in preorder sales from the previous installment.  It also shows that the number of preorders aren't slowing down, meaning people are really liking what they see in ME3.  If they didn't we would see a slowing in preorders.

Edit: Also the huge spike in preorders started with10 weeks to go for ME3 compared to the small spike for ME2 the same week, a leveling off then a continuous spike starting at 4 weeks to go.

Well the early access demo peeps at least.  The full brunt of the demo marketing hasn't hit  yet since today is when everyone got access.  There will probably be another spike when MP access is universal as well.

How are pre-order numbers supposed to be relevant to the quality of the game? Pre-order numbers relate only to two things - marketing/hype, and preceeding games. All high ME3 pre-order numbers mean is that people loved ME1 and ME2.

Well, I'm assuming this numbers come from sources like VGA Chartz, so they are not entirelly wrong.

ME3 has 654,132 XBox pre-orders, with 65,745 weekly change, followed by Diablo III PC, with 402,569 pre-orders and 16,752 weekly change.

The PS3 pre-orders are low compared to the XBox version 156,534, followed by the PC version with 76,734

I pre-ordered on new egg because they had a sale. I may get the game a few days late, but to save $12 or so is worth it.
