So... let's talk about pillows. Effectively pillow talk. I need more of them. If someone is willing to give me a good tutorial or whatnot on how to reskin existing pillows... well I shall make pillows.

Do you have a pillow model already? Can't think of one that isn't just a flat textured layer in vNWN.

Depends how you want to reskin them.
Just wanting to change the colour is easy as, but all new textures is harder
The basic gist is you need to get the texture files out and change them as appropriate, and make a modified model to use the new texture to not overwrite the existing ones

I was thinking of starting slow. I get the idea of how to do colors, was going to try that first on my own... then use the graphic layout to put down new texture graphics and see how it works out. Was not sure if there's a good tutorial on it though.
And is it fine to use the items in CEP and make new texture versions of them? Never sure who the authors are or if it's free use.

<dons his lenses...>
My advice on starting out is to do what I and, I believe, TAD did. Start by renaming a model & texture so you don't over-write the originals. The change all the "bitmap" references in the model to point to the new bitmap.
Then load up the texture and have your way with it ;-)
(Edit: And I honestly recommend the GIMP for texture work unless you're lucky enough to have Photoshop. Choice! ;-)
Save often.
Test often.
Play with kittens =) Seriously. It lets slip the anchors of your soul.
Just a caveat on the CEP, one that bit me somewhere tender...
Some of the models there are rather questionable, copyright-wise. The one that got me was the treegiant model that I had hoped to use as a base for my Forrestal.
It was ripped from World of Warcraft (this was brought to my attention with url link to prove it, btw), and therefore unusable for me :-( I admire the blazes out of the CEP team, but one rotten piece means I simply can not *assume* the provenance of any of the others.
In general, I use CEP to find a decent model and then track down it's source, either in a separate hak on the Vault or clearly attributed in the CEP credits. If I can't find the source, I simply can't use it.
Last thing I'll need down the road is a "cease and desist" order after I get everything working :-/
<...and then overlooks them>

Thanks, I will give that a go. I have photoshop already for work reasons. For the time being I'll assume I can work with the current pillow options unless anyone says otherwise.... this late in the game it seems like most authors are willing to allow usage for community benefit anyhow.
As for the things like the WoW creatures, I did recognize them but assumed whomever did that got permission, since it was so obviously used from that company's designs.
One thing I'd like to try is recoloring too, but again I often don't know the authors because much of what my PW uses is from the CEP. So for example, if I wanted to change the colors of these trees, do I need to track down the creator? Are most people okay with color changes because it doesn't completely rework what was done, it just expands on it?

Hmmm... The forum FAQ states that user profile photos can't be sourced/imported. How the heck are you folks getting custom portraits???

It's not custom. It's from some bioware game I didn't play, so not sure of the name/character.
