Thx for the advice AlexDeLarge, I will look into this option from the BG Teaks patch :) As long as the patch doesnt modify the game too much I should be happy with it.
I agree with what you said about the happy patch, it would just make it a bit boring. I like the interactions between characters, especially when they argue a bit lol. I gave up on Minsc because I won't be able to use him peacefully in BG2 with Edwin. I will take Kivan instead, who does a great job at archery anyway, and Kivan will be replaced by Mazzy in BG2, who will eventually be replaced by Sarevok in ToB, so no big loss there really.
Besides, although it's been a few years since I last played BG1, I remember Minsc sometimes used to go Berserk on my own party members and that was quite annyoing.

Yes, Minsc almost got my killed a couple of times in my no-reload challenge. He is highly volatile and a loose cannon. But if you learn to cope with his chaotic nature, he can be very powerful, in BG1 that is; in BG2 i find him nearly useless, as Korgan can do anything he does 3x better.

Sorry a bit off topic, but could someone tell me at what level druids can start shapeshifting and how many times a day they can do it?
I can't find this anywhere on the manual or the web.

Thx

Shapeshifter starts at level 1 and the others start at 7th level... once per day per shape eg. 1 wolf, 1 bear etc also look at SCS which makes it a token that you can put on and off like gloves.

sweet thx :) Sorry if it sounds noobish, but what is SCS? lol
By the way, once I select Jahera, for instance, to become a bear, how do I select her to go back to her normal self?

SCS is a mod for BG1 & bg2... to change back you press the human shape that is next to the bear & wolf.

I didn't know paladins were allowed a sense of humor. ^_^

Nice story, Khronos. I love when people write up their games in narrative form. ^_^

Yes, Humanoid_Taifun Paladin's are allowed a sense of humor but we do have standards about who WE hang around and Edwin, nor Viconia would fit the mold. Somewhere in AD&D P&P there was the line in the DMG or PH that Paladins preferred to hang around LG fighters and Clerics when possible.

Kronus, I'm glad you chose Cavalier over Inquisitor since the Inquisitor's whole purpose in being is to destroy practitioners of evil magic. Last I checked Edwin was LE and a Mage. Actually, the rest of your party for both games looks good. One thing I've done is to play Jaheira as TN in BGI and use a mod to change her to NG in BGII. I role play that she sees my LG PC consistantly acting in chivalrous manner and that he wears off on her. As such, she has a change of heart and her goodness comes out.

I guess you can roleplay anything but some of us Paladin's are snobbish, traditionalists about that sort of thing. Have fun.

Vicky starts the game betrayed, afraid and alone so it’s perhaps little wonder that she is (literally) screaming for a big strong male to rescue her... interestingly this need of hers is also generating a good deal of self-loathing but that’s hardly surprising when you consider the lady’s background. I personally consider her the best romance for a paladin and she is nothing if not willing to “put-out” regardless of if you just want a quick tumble under the sheets or something more intense... come on, the girl will change her alignment for you!

@USSNORWAY: Will Viconias alignment change? Interesting. That might be worth pursuing sometime.

Khalid's fate

Here's the full journal entry relating the fate Khalid suffered:

"The journey from Candlekeep would have been rather uneventful, were it not for the terrible events that led to my foster father's demise. I found myself completely alone in the wilderness, lost...
Candlekeep, with its regimented fortified walls, had been my home for the past 20 years, and Gorion never allowed me to explore the outside. Without his influence, Candlekeep’s gates will remain closed to me.
The only place I could hope to get any answers, the Friendly Arm Inn, lies far away, so I decided that in order to be safe on my journey there, I had to look for companions to travel with me, while avoiding any danger the best way I can.
A sudden surge of courage rekindled inside me, and as I took my first steps into the unknown I heard a distant voice calling me. It brought me great comfort when I recognised Imoen's voice as she caught up with me, for I knew then I was not alone! She joined me and we quickly scouted the area south of Lion's Way, looking for more companions to join us. We came across Kivan, a ranger who was hunting bandits, and he was very keen to join us. I sensed he was trustworthy, and his cause was indeed righteous.
We made our way back to Lion's way and then east, where we met a couple of travellers who wanted us to go with them to Nashkel. Though they seemed friendly enough, and even offered us a potion of healing, I decided to not let them travel with us, for something about them did not seem right. I detected an evil presence all around them, and decided it was not worth risking it at this stage.
Reaching the Coast Way, we moved carefully northwards using stealth, avoiding any dangerous encounter on our way, until we finally reached the Friendly Arm Inn!!! After a brief encounter with yet another bounty hunter right on the steps leading to the Inn, we finally met Gorion's friends, Jahera and Khalid.
They spoke to me at length, and said it was Gorion's wish they should accompany me if something foul befell him, but they said I was a grown man now, and the decision should be mine. I wasn't really given much time to think about things, and at that moment any extra valuable companion seemed a great blessing to have around.
Jahera strikes me as an independent, very opinionated woman, and a fierce warrior too. Khalid, on the other hand, didn’t strike me as a very confident and tough warrior at all. I will bring him along, though rather reluctantly, for I sense when he finds himself in the heat of a battle, his courage might fail him, and he could end up dead.
After they joined us, we decided to scout the fishing village to the north of the Inn to look for an extra companion, preferably one adept at arcane sorcery.
Jaheira, Imoen and Kivan stayed outside the village, but Khalid offered to go with me scouting. After a little while we came across Adjantis, a righteous paladin whose quest was to purge the Sword Coast of bandits! Although he was not a mage, we decided to take him with us until we could find one. The three of us heard some noises east of our location, but I ignored it and made my way back to the group with Adjantis in order to introduce him to everyone. Khalid decided to scout slightly further to see what the noise was.
Adjantis was telling us about the tasks he needs to accomplish in order to become a full-fledged member of the Most Noble Order of the Radiant Heart when all of a sudden we heard Khalid screaming frantically.
We all ran immediately towards the direction where the shouts were coming from, and to our horror, when we saw him, he was being torn apart by two huge green insect-like creatures who had burrowed out of the ground and surrounded him.
Khalid was being devoured by them, and there was nothing we could do…
Jaheira shrieked and tried to run and rescue her beloved, but I had to grab her and drag her back to retreat with the others. I knew if we all went there that would have been the death of all of us…”

How about trying team evil for once?
PC Thief or Fighter/Thief
Viconia
Edwin
Korgan
Valen? (if you are feeling particularly evil and/or want to play as something else than a thief)
Sarevok

I found that having Jaheira, Aerie and Korgan in the same team made for amusing fireworks and some slightly kinky dialogue.

I also like the Saerileth mod which introduces another paladin who takes the ideal of paladinhood to new levels.

She didn't have the self-doubts of Anomen. I found them very realistic, She being young, has perhaps time to learn that doing the right thing all the time is hard work.

What I was not so keen on was that Aerie jumps into bed with you without so much as a "By your leave." In my book it takes two to tango and both should be in favour of dancing or it's no fun.

Presumably because the romance is between a sixteen year old and a twenty-one year old! Image IPB

I live in a country where marriages with those ages is the norm, so it doesn't shock me. Though it shock me when one of my friends told me that his father married at the age of seven, and that his wife was the same age. It was a good marriage too, or so he told me.

It did mean that by the time they wanted to sleep together, they were already very good friends. I have had to learn to accept different customs. I and my wife were thirty-two before we married!

Okay, then I guess an evil party isn't very "you" (even if it might be interesting as a roleplaying experience).
The best advice for you to take then is to take whoever is left (Valygar, Mazzy, Cernd, Aerie) and use the remaining slot and your class to alter the party balance to your personal preference (for my playstyle I'd want a pure wizard and a non-dualclassed thief)

and had Sarevok at ToB and i will say that even he is pure evil i like more his damage!!!!!

Then it will delight you to read that as long as you're not romancing him he can actually be turned to good. :innocent:

You won't hear anything from me.

Edit: Okay, that's a lie. If there is even a small opening for me to nitpick, I will. I'm an internet-tough guy rapid-fire talker.
