Speaking of which... who is this "spoiler character" that many people are speaking of, the one with the tech powers and NOT the Bonus DLC Character? I'd certainly like to see the reference for that.

If you look around the forums a little and/or PM some of the people who've read the leaked script then you can find out.

But if you do, please don't mention it here, I don't want story spoilers like that on this thread.

I've been looking over the leaked power list for the squad and the more I look at it the more concerned I get about the balance of the squad.

My Squad Balance Concerns

1:  No one has Pull, Throw, or Shockwave which greatly limits your crowd control ability.
2:  Only Liara has Warp.
3:  Only the potentially dead Ashley has an ammo power effective against shields (disruptor ammo); but 3 different squadmates have ammo powers effective against armor (Garrus has Armor Piercing, Vega has Incendiary and Liara has the more versatile Warp ammo) .

Simple Changes I'd Like to See.

1:  Give the secret biotic squadmate Warp, Pull, Throw, and Biotic Focus in place of current power set.
2:  Give Kaiden Warp instead of Reave.
3:  Give Kaiden Disruptor Ammo in place of Barrier.  I never considered him a tank and someone on the squad needs to have Disruptor Ammo if Ash isn't on your squad.

Unrealistic Changes I'd Like to See.

1:  More Permanent Squadmembers.
2:  Miranda Lawson on the squad, she gives you a sentinel on your squad if Kaiden is dead and she'd give the squad a human female love interest if Ash is dead.
3:  A Krogan on the squad, preferably a battlemaster, preferably Wrex.

Oh yeah, Here's the rumored power list for the Squad for anyone who hasn't had a chance to analyze it.

AVPen wrote...

Ashley:
Concussive Shot
Disruptor Ammo
Inferno Grenade
Marksman (Increases Weapon accuracy temporarily)

Kaidan:
Reave
Barrier
Overload
Cryo Blast

James:
Carnage
Fortification
Incendiary Ammo
Frag Grenade

Liara:
Singularity
Warp
Stasis
Warp Ammo

Garrus:
Concussive Shot
Armor-Piercing Ammo
Overload
Proximity Mine

Tali:
Combat Drone
Energy Drain
Sabotage
Defense Drone (Stays by her side and protects her)

Secret Squadmate #1:
Overload
Incinerate
Decoy  (Similar to Combat Drone; but more focused on distraction than offense)
Defense Matrix: (Reduces damage taken.)

Secret Squadmate #2:
Slam
Biotic Focus (Makes the Squad's Biotic powers stronger and decreases cooldown)
Reave (???)
???

So, if Kaiden died on Virmire, we have 2 soldiers, 2 engineers, 2 adepts and one infiltrator, but not sentinel or vanguard?

That squad kinda sucks.

So I'm guessing "The Vigilante" has been officially scrapped, or is there any mention of her in the leak? The inclusion of one awesome character could help redeem the squad for me since I'm only really looked forward to the VS and Vega.

To those complaining about class, you should be good enough at this point that you can do any of the missions on your own in veteran mode.

Haven't read the leaked script myself and as a rule we're not naming the names of any of the unnanounced squadmates in this thread.    What I do know is that there are supposedly 2 unnanounced squadies.  One is a tech and is in the main game and the other is a biotic and is supposedly the DLC character included in the Collector's Edition.

True; but I play on Insanity and at that level having the right squad for the job is pretty helpful.

ME3 seems to have a somewhat different setup though, for instance with the guardians there are different ways to take them out based on your class setup instead of just busting through armor ala ME2. I mean honestly the game has to be balanced around the available squad setup so not having redundant classes shouldn't really be a problem when it comes time to actually play the game.

This is why they should allow us to customize each squad member's development path(though they should still offer a default upgrade path for those who don't want to customize). AFAIK, there's no reason in the lore why Liara can't learn to pull, throw, or send out a shockwave.

I saw Liara with a Revenant. I believe you are incorrect.

Yeah I've thought interchangable powers would be a good idea for a while now.

I'd give the squadmembers some powers which are predefined; but then I'd give them a power like a bonus power that the player could pick for them.   I'd also limit it to powers which are appropriate to the character's class, so a biotic character would have a pool of biotic powers to choose from while an Engineer would have a pool of tech powers to choose from and so on an so forth.

To OP - seeing as I don't like the vast majority of NPCs they've provided for ME 3... I really only needed two.. Kaidan and Vega. So they still have too many.

All the characters I like had stuff to do that doesn't involve following Shepard around like a groupie.

I doubt that is her actual name, its more like the codenames from the dossiers. Jack was the convict, Okeer the warlord, Mordin was the scientist, etc.

I'm aware of both of those, but I think the CE dlc will be available for the SE version of the game as well.

Good point, on the tougher modes you'll need more squaddies, but vanguard and engineer don't have too many benefits in ME2, unlessthey get a real power overhaul in ME3, sentinels and adepts should be good enough in most situations.

Nope. I was suprised when I saw that too. I blame that on BioWare being lazy.

They've confirmed that you'll be able to purchase the DLC character and mission seperate from the collector's edition.   Not sure about the N7 weapons, squad appearance pack and Robot dog.

Well hopefully that's changed between the time the script leaked and now.  Warp is a better fit for him and its more useful to boot.

In this thread you can see ALL weapons that will be available in ME3. Considering, that you choose which one will be equipped by you and your teammates, this list shows, how much diversity we will find in weapons "department".

I already know that my Shep will be running around with Revenant and Viper, but what to give Garrus and James...

We can equip any gun on any squad member? That'd be a huge plus.

Yes. It was confirmed a while ago. However, evidence of this wasn't shown until the GI article. Liara is holding a Revenant.

They changed the way Reave works.  Its no longer vampiric.  Now it boosts the caster's resistance instead of adding health.

In light of this, how is Warp any more or less appropriate than Reave?  New Reave is essentially ME1 Warp.

I think people need to stop judging the choices they've made for this game without knowing what's going on.  BioWare knows what they're doing.

I had no idea that they changed the way Reave worked. In that case, I don't have a problem with it.

What kind of Warp did you use? I don't remember it working like how you described.

You are not the only one to notice.  It just seems odd that they have given us this squad.  This leads me to wonder if those temporary squadmate missions are more prevalent.
