The Collector Base: What's the alternative?

( I don't have the time to go through over 9000 pages in the vague possibillity that there already is a thread like this, so if there is... too bad. )
So I've been browsing some of dat BSN lately, specifically the threads concerning the ever present subject of the Collector base. Of course, as is the fashion of most internet discussions, these eventually degraded into **** YOU PARAF****T/RENEB***H and DESTROY/SAVE THE BASE YOU B*****D/P***Y threads. Not all of course. There were some good discussions here and there. Mildly interesting but not that great.
Before these threads boiled down to a state of "let's just wait for ME3" a fellow renegade posted a question, asking the paragons a question. I don't remember the exact wording but it went something like this ( Yes I'm finally getting to it) : "So if we should'nt rely on the base to fight the reapers , what should we rely on?"
A question I think deserves an answer. What exactly are you Paragons planning to use to defeat the Reapers. Sure the base won't magically win the war but what else is there to use?
The Thanxi cannon that the turians developed?
Palaven called, it's not going too well over there.
The Migrant fleet?
Oh you mean those ships that are 300 years old, manned by a species that collectively keels over whenever anything worse than cough hits them and which is also led by a rather divided Admiralty Board?
A collective Dreadnought fleet?
See comments regarding Palaven, homeworld of the Turian race. You know, the guys with the most Dreadnoughts in the galaxy.
I'm listening.

I wouldn't say that for all paragons (Or mostly paragons rather). I am mostly paragon because I try dipolmacy when I think i will work out. If I dont then I won't try it at all. Maybe I'm a paragade idk. Mostly paragon but a good amount of renegade. For example. I'm not gonna throw a guy out the window for real no reason or not give a civie or wounded soldier some medi-gel if they're hurting or dying but I will engage hostiles that I know are going to be hostile with no mercy. I'd call that paragade. Idk I've been up to longPeer of the Empire wrote...
Paragons rely on feeling and don't think logically, OP your questions are not their strong suit

The big red Deus ex machina we all know is gonna be there (No, I didn't read the script. I'm just being silly). Seriously though I find that an interesting question too and my new play through I may keep the base. The whole thing is Cerberus has the omega 4 relay locked down so it'll be harder than hard getting there. I assume most know what Cerberus is now in ME3 so I won't say anyway which is another issue. Plus if you read the invasion or read the summary on the wiki you know that cerberus also has a new "base" shall we call it.
While it is undeniable that retaking the base would be harder than convincing Conrad Verner to stop being a fanboy, I still think that the argument stands. It's a small hope and it will be hard, but what other alternatives are there?
I've heard some talk up the geth as some sort of game changer, something about them having advanced technology(though considering we were able to blast their transport ships out of the sky with a single infantry veichle I'll have to disagree XD).

This thread has all the answers.
On exactly which of those 60+ pages are these answers located?

I destroyed it because it's just trouble. It also gives the Reapers an easy-to-defend (what with their advanced control over mass effect fields and mass relays) staging ground from which to harass the galaxy should they ever be put on the defense. That base also possessed the equipment to build more Reapers.
Humanity and the rest of galaxy have several advantages over the Reapers that the Protheans did not. One, Shepard knows they're coming. Two, they won't be attacking through the Citadel, so the galaxy's governments and fleets are still intact. Three, the galaxy has literally thousands of worlds to train troops, build ships, and harverst resources from, while the Reapers started out with none. Four, the potential alliance that paragon Shepard can build is devestating in its diversity; Krogan Battlesmasters, Asari Commandos, Salarian Special Task Forces, Spectres, 50,000+ Quarian ships, the bloody Geth, etc. and Five, we have the Citadel itself (I think it will play a role in stopping the Reapers...)
I'm not saying it will be an easy fight. I'm just saying that paragon Shepard has a lot of options...
