best shotgun to give squadmates, barring the Geth Plasma Shotgun.

I can't stand that damn "poof" sound when you shoot the GPS, so I give all my squaddies the Eviscerator.

Which do you suggest using for Shepard? I was using Scmitar but recently switched back to M-22 for Shadow Broker. Every time I use one or the other I confuse myself again.

Geth Plasma Shotgun is the best shotgun for squadmates since it is the most accurate, followed by the Eviscerator.

For Shepard, it is a personal choice; they all have their strengths and weaknesses.

Squadmates (except for Grunt) suck with shotguns*.

*unless you use GPS.

But Eviscerator is the one eyed king among the blind in this case.

I prefer the Eviscerator for Shepard... that is unless I am trying to freeze or burn enemies then I like the Scimitar. I might need to give the Katana another look. A lot of people seem to like it's balance between rate of fire and ammo capacity.

I will stand by the Katana until the very end. The shot->melee->shot is fluid to hell and back with it, and you can stunlock any enemy with a stagger animation.

No, it doesn't kill enemies in one shot, no it doesn't proc ammo AS effectively as the Scimmy, and no it can't be pseudo-sniped with (Evi) or sniped with (GPS) but it's GREAT at stunlocking and have you heard the sound effect?

...

No, seriously have you listened closely?

You have convinced me to at least try The Katana. I have a weird thing for the Evi but in theory like The Scmitar.

I prefer how they survive better with the Eviscerator, in my experience if you are using them to draw aggro away from Shepard.

The GPS is a fine option, that is strong, but they seem to stay out of cover a bit longer and the animation seem to take a little longer too.

I wonder if there's been any testing to verify though, since it's partly conjecture, since I really haven't done proper testing on this.

This is very difficult to test, unless we were the bioware development squad.  Its the same problem as Tempest vs Locust just too many variables.  I tried to do it by timing how long a particluar mission took ( switching out the weapons ) but I never found out very much difference in time to complete a mission.  I'd be open to some ideas if you could come up with some criteria to judge and a way to test.;)

The Eviscerator is like a dirty Claymore. Whereas the Claymore gets you in close and gets you nice clean kills with a sexy reload trick, the Eviscerator gets you in close, which is followed by shot, which is then followed by repeated punches until the opponent is dead; providing the first shot doesn't waste them.

It's messy and wonderful.

When I first started using Shotguns on non-Vanguard classes, I loved the GPS. It is still a good gun, but it really doesn't feel or really shoot like a Shotgun and so the longer I used SGs the less I used the gun. Now my favorite Shotgun is the Eviscerator period, whereas I only used to like it on the Vanguard. I keep telling myself that I will use the Scimitar and I just may when I finally get around to running my Engineer that I plan in the future...we will see.

But to wrap this up neatly, Eviscerator all the way.

The Scimitar is OK, but its higher ammo and lower damage makes it hard to adjust to. I had to change from a rhythm of melee and one deadly shot to getting up close and shooting multiple times.

I like the Evi. Nice all-around shotgun.

My "canon" Shep is a Vanguard. After playing with all of them I much prefer the Scimitar. The Claymore is just to slow and you have to end up using the reload trick to make it viable. The only other shotty I could recommend personally would be the Eviscerator. It boils down to personal preference. I personally like the large ammo capacity and high rate of fire and it works for me very well.

EDIT: For squad mates I alwasy stick them with the Geth Plasma Shotty.

I've tried to figure out a variable to isolate, and I've only got focusing on the time between each shot taken by the squadmates.
Dunno if that might be a good place to start though?
